I'm really stumped with this problem. I have a droid friend who I can text individually without problem, the message always goes through as SMS fine. However, when he is on a group message chain, my iPhone will invariably send out the first few messages as SMS and then convert to iMessage on its own. Obviously he reports and confirms that he never receives my texts at that point on the group thread. Others in the group chain are able to get messages through to him without a problem.
I've tried deleting his contact info and rebuilding it, deleting the entire group thread and restarting it, etc all with the same outcome. I'm on iOS 8.1.1. He gets texts from other iOS and non-iOS users and he says the problem is confined to me only. Any thoughts?
