That's what I was to gripe about. I bought a dock for my iPad 1 back in the days and the only use I had for it was my iPhone 4 because I never took the iPad out the sleeve. Docking stations are a real waste if they are not compatible with cases. I now have the iPhone 5S and since it doesn't have a glass screen on the back, I keep it in the (PRODUCT)RED leather case. Stylish, minimalistic, and not adding much weight and thickness. All nice, but there is no docking station I know off that allows for the 2-3mm more thickness and connector length. You would think all these well-paid engineers could come up with a product for that. We'll, if they did, the secret is kept better than the next gen's iPhone parts and specs...;)

I make acoustic amplifiers for iPhone out of scrap wood - maple, oak and walnut. I can cut the top opening to custom specifications, to accommodate phones with cases. I'm currently only selling them through Etsy but I'm planning to expand production and distribution. You can check out my iPhone acoustic speakers at http://gooduseful.etsy.com. I'd enjoy hearing your thoughts on my work!

Forgive me for being a bit cynical, but those cases look positively BORING!
Having one made with birds eye maple would be beautiful. or how about purple heart or some of the other exotic woods. Since these exotic woods are usually cut very thin to be used for veneering, a maker could steam it in a mould and let it cool. Now, that would be a awesome case.
Hmmm, perhaps I will start my own veneer iPhone case company.
After I retire from the is 18 wheeler. :p

Goodand useful:

I did a quick looksey at your sight, and I like the little speaker boxes.
First off, they look pretty nice and I understand your desire to use left over wood.
However, if you were interested in using some exotic wood as well, the
woodworkersstore.com carries many exotic woods at a fair price that you could sell when assembled for a nice profit. Just a thought. :)

Thanks for the feedback and suggestion! I'd love to use more exotic species if I can find it as scrap. I started the company out of the concept of using only waste, and the speaker design was secondary to the use of material rescued from the trash can. My family manufactures furniture so since I was little I wondered what might be done with the wood we throw out, to create value where there was none. It's a sort of alchemy that I enjoy. I'm sure there are many other manufacturers with scrap large enough for this design. I'll look into finding a source for exotic wood scrap. Great idea!

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!! I purchased a walnut bumper and back from this company and it started cracki g and chipping soon after purchasing. Also, the hinges are already coming apart. Grovemade only warranties this product for 6 months. THEY WILL NOT REPLACE OR REFUND and are completely helpless in servicing customers with product issues. I don't know of another reputable company selling this type of product, but I would HIGHLY advise steering clear of this company, unless you have money to burn.
