Okay, so I've wanted an iBook for like ... a year now. But I'm always strapped for cash. I took my friend to the Apple Store to show him how cool they are, and his parents just bought him one! And now he's rubbing it in my face despite the fact that I want one so much more (I don't even own a computer right now).

So the question I pose to you is, should I murder him and take it?

Hmm...
Well, it IS over an iBook. :p

Dude, just get a job, and by the time you have enough cash, You'll have a shiny new iBook P4 to shove in his face. Hehe.

(I'm assuming it'll take that long because of FUN minimum-wage jobs that are available to teens. I'm still bitter that I couldn't find one of THOSE over the summer. Grr. Now I get to borrow money from my 'rents again and pay them back. :( )

OR, if you do murder him for the iBook, be sure to close it first. Getting blood off a keyboard is hard!

..Not that I'd know.

*walks away briskly*

Ahh! Don't murder him, that's like illegal! (Not to mention stealing)...

You know what to do... when you get one.. get a better one :p

Another sign of true friendship - one-up-manship.

I'll give you $10 towards your goal :D

But I am sure if you murder him, the Steve Jobs would call and apologize to his parents for what happened.

Actually ignore my $10.. I aint rich enough :D.

Get a job. Like I have one and have saved LOADS this summer (lets just say enough to buy a dual 2.3).

Don't murder him.. get a job, save up and then buy a better mac. In the end he'll feel guilty he didn't pay for his own and you don't have to say ANYTHING about yours being better.. cos he'll know!

If you're not able to get a job. Try to negotiate a deal with your own parent(s). Maybe they'll help you out if you take on some extra duties at home for half a year or something.

Are you over 18? If so, apply for Apple credit and pay it off over a couple years. You won't even notice the $20 a month.

You can get the student rate, $949 and a free iPod Mini right now. Go for it dude!

Hmmm...
I may have to fake my brother's death over his iBook...
Getting a call from Steve would be fun.

"Hello, steve jobs here. I'm so sorry for your loss.."
"Oh. That was a fake death. Just wanted you to call."
*sends death rays through phone*

Yes... get a PowerBook. ;)

I hate it when that happens!

A ways ago when i built my old pc, my friend out and decided to build his own. He asked me about EVERYTHING!!!! And since he had more more money, he got better parts. Now he rubs it in my face.

However now that I've switched, it's all good. Plus he hates Macs! He says everyone is getting them, which doesn't make any sense because of the low market-share with macs, but whatever.

I'm sixteen and living on my own in Rochester, NY. So you can guess, money is tight ... I just came to this area so I haven't found a job yet.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, guys :)

You know, as much as I'd like to, it would honestly be overkill for me because the most processer intensive thing I do is watch videos ... I am just a writer.

Oh geez, no. Anything but that. We're talking finance company consumer credit here, the absolute worst way to get into debt.

Talk to your folks. If you can work a deal with them for repayment, go to your local bank or credit union and have your parent cosign.

Like I said, I live on my own ... I haven't lived with my parents for over half a year now.

Although ... maybe they would be willing to help me out anyway ... :)

Spend less time geeking out on forums and go work for some cash.

There's not free lunch man. If your not going to make it for yourself, no one else is going to.

Dont tell me you cant get a job. Start knocking on doors. Mow lawns, shovel ****, work on a pig farm, whatever. Anyone who says they cant get a job is just plain lazy.

Never said that ... I've been looking.

I'm also amazed at the amount of people taking this thread seriously when I ended it with the idea of murdering my friend.

He got a Mini instead. I hate the Mini with the passion of a thousand suns. So I'm happy.
