GT5 - Am I Being Blind?

I can't seem to find the option to modify your car (engine, turbo, clutch upgrades etc) Has this feature been left out simply because it's the prologue, or am I just missing it entirely??

Other than that- I'm really liking it! Very slick, and funky menu music 😎

I thought that only unlocked limited tuning (like adjusting gear ratios etc) not actual performance upgrades. I could be wrong though.
