i have a macpro 1,1, yes unbelievable but true. Last time i turned it on was about 2 years ago. When i turned it on it was good and nice and fast but then I realized the graphics. I mean 2 years ago they seemed fine to me but now it just can't do anything, such as it doesn't have support forr a lot of the things today. Anyway I decided to get a GTX 590 since it is possible to upgrade up to the 500 series without installing 10.10 on it. Then when i went to check to see for the PCI E power it only has 2x 6 pins. My question is this. Is it possible to get a 6 pin to 8 pin power connector for the 590? please reply. Thanks.

Many people have powered 8-pins in many different ways. Some simply use a 6-to-8-pin adapter, others combine 2 molex or 2 sata into an 8-pin, some add a second power supply in the optical bay or externally, and more recently some have tapped power directly off of the 12v wires coming out of the PSU. I don't know the best way to do it and I have not done it myself, but all of these seem to work for people.

There is no SLI in OS X, so only one GPU in the 590 will be used unless you are using them for compute purposes. In Windows you can use SLI if you like.

Basically you have 2 @ GTX570. Since you only get 75 Watts of slot power, all the rest comes from cables.

You need to take this seriously, they are hungry cards.
