Down south
I ordered a regular 16 from Apple Thursday (strongly considering a downsize from my 15 pro max). It was to be delivered Friday and I wasn’t thinking about the fact that I’d be gone. Instead of trying to redeliver, UPS marked it as refused by customer and returned it to Apple. It arrives back there today.

I don’t quite understand what the heck happened, but I guess it’s a sign for now. Maybe I’ll go back to a non-pro next year. Lol

So you’re blaming UPS? You could just contact Apple to send it all over …

I did NOT refuse the package, so yeah, I do blame them for marking that I refused it and sending it back. And obviously I know I can get another one if I want, but like I said - maybe it’s just a sign that I need to wait.

I wouldn’t take that as a sign. More than likely, the UPS driver marked wrong in the system and instead of it being a re-deliver, it got marked refused. I would have been on the phone with Apple asap.

I did call them, but they told me there was nothing they could do. I had another UPS email this morning, assuming it was the delivery to Apple, but Apple had refused it and now it’s on its way back. The tracking history of this thing is hilarious!

One of the more surreal threads I have seen in recent weeks I think.

I mean it was a bit tongue-in-cheek to begin with. Sorry that wasn’t better conveyed.

I am frustrated that UPS would return a package like that, especially after saying they would retry the delivery, but obviously I know if I really want the phone I can get the phone.

Isn't UPS supposed to make three delivery attempts before sending it back? Maybe that's why Apple refused it, but I haven't heard of that before.

That’s what I thought, or at least more than a single one. It’s weird because my UPS emails stated they would retry delivering Monday, THEN they showed it out for delivery with it being returned to sender because it was refused by the recipient.

And then Apple customer service told me there was nothing they could do, but then they refused it. It’s just odd.

I am excited to try the phone though. I love my PM, but it is pretty hefty.

Okay so more to the UPS drama. I had a delivery message yesterday showing it had been refused and was coming back to me. This morning it’s showing it’s going back to Apple, and when I look up all the details, it shows nothing about Apple refusing it and it coming back to me.

SO dang weird.

Anyway, no clue where the phone is - gonna call Apple and see what they’re seeing on their end.

Rumours suggest next year they’ll add ProMotion and AOD to the base models finally, which for me is why I’ve got Pro for the last few years. I’m keeping my 15 Pro Max and might get the base 17 or 17 Plus. We’ll see.

I’m leaning that way at this point. The longer I’ve thought about it the more I want to stick with my original plan of skipping a year. I’m just pretty much over the size/weight of my pro max.

Nope not if it is marked refused. It goes right back to the sender. I also would vote the UPS driver just hit the wrong button on their handheld DIAD.

But it doesn’t make sense because I got an email from UPS saying they had attempted it and would try again the next business day.

Then on the Monday (next business day), I got something showing it was being delivered back to Apple because it was refused. The tracking info showed it as no one home and they would retry then the next day (Saturday) changed to refused.

Then Apple doesn’t get it on Monday and instead it is supposedly coming back to me, and then it’s turned around again.

just too weird.

So more in the saga - it got back to Apple yesterday, but I got an email congratulating me on my new device, and my order shows my return has started and I need to send device back to Apple.

Guess I’m back on the phone with them this morning. I’ve never had anything like this happen. It’s so frustrating.

Whew, this has definitely been a comedy of errors. Hope you get it resolved with no issues.

Another saga of switching back and forth

Not switching back and forth since the phone was returned by UPS without my permission, then supposedly refused by Apple then sent back to Apple (none of which I knew about nor approved), but thanks for your input.

Yes it has. I contacted Apple again yesterday. They have received the phone, but my order is still showing I requested a return (which I never did), and I need to return the device by 11/2/24, and I still have not gotten anything from Apple regarding a refund, or showing the device was a returned. The only way I know it was returned to them is because the UPS tracking shows the item was delivered, and they did acknowledge by phone that they’ve received the phone.

I got an email about setting up my device, and today a survey asking about my recent delivery. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Crazy…..I’m sure they will get it sorted out. I had an issue a couple of years ago regarding a carrier trade that was erroneously marked by Apple as recycle and my bill credit went to zero. Took about a month but Apple made good on it and just gave me cash for what the trade should have been.

So after nearly 2 weeks and 4 extended calls to Apple, it is FINALLY showing that they have received the return and they have that information linked to the actual order. They received the phone last Wednesday, but it wasn’t until yesterday that my order started showing the correct information and it was freaking me out.

That said, the woman who helped me yesterday offered to send me an accessory, and one of the items she offered was an airtag, which I accepted because I didn’t need a case or anything. She is sending me a four pack of AirTags! I was shocked! I feel like that is quite generous, and I definitely didn’t expect it.

They are supposed to deliver today, so I guess we shall see if that goes off without a hitch! ;-p

This post is really telling i am correct in buying from a carrier, getting your hands on the phone and knowing just what i am buying.
This ordering from Apple and have it deliverd just gives to many chances of a problem.

You have to think about the fact, that this type of situation does not happen all the time. I order products from Apple all the time and have ordered devices from my carriers in the past, without issues of deliver. The only issue of delivery I had was with the Apple Watch Ultra 1 that I ordered through Verizon, that “mysteriously” ended up missing at the UPS hub near me. It never showed up, although the exact same Watch that I ordered from Apple on the same day, was delivered to me that day along with my iPhone. You will have to say this is on a case by case basis.

Mine 16 pro max was delivered Monday while I was at work. Driver just left it by the door. I did order from AT&T and not Apple so maybe that was why.
