The possibility of this is pretty low. The Mac minis didn't have much in the way of expansion anyway. You might be able to get faster (but not Gigabit) speed by leveraging the Firewire port and another Mac *with* Gigabit.

Best hope would likely be if an Ethernet card was made for the slot reserved for the AirPort Extreme card. Of course, that will involve reverse-engineering that slot, if it hasn't been done already.

That would be nice but I need first to build that extra building for all my hobby stuff. No space in our house to put even small part of my gear up for use or display. 😂

That is worth a thought. But, I also need a use case for my MDD DP, which probably would be better for that in all other regards but power consumption. Couple of days ago electricity price went up to almost 60c/kwh, today max is only 2.66c/kwh. Gets even more volatile during winter. Some days I don't like doing anything too power hungry.

Yes, that is the plan. The place I live in is quite sunny and I have clear sky to south so panels are going to be installed at some point. A wind turbine is a possibility too. The biggest solar panel boom went away 1.5 years ago so panels are now dirt cheap too. In fact I have built 2 solar panel systems to our summer home which is off grid so I have experience on them. 👍

Only 3-4 years ago electricity cost was steady 4-5c/kwh. Then it skyrocketed (Ukrainian war?) and at worst has been more than 1€/kwh. Today one can get a 2 year deal on steady price of about 8c/kwh or variable tied to energy market like mine which usually ends up on average to lower level than the steady option due possibility to optimize energy use manually or even automate it.

This has some serious effects on my computer use. For example I no longer run any BOINC-style projects 24/7 at all which I earlier ran on several computers. Also my home servers are now all Mac Minis or RPis which are low consumption.

I'd like to pursue something similar but it's not possible in my current living arrangements or even my current location in London. Perhaps I'm living in the wrong city or even country.

I keep ordering more and more of those BR2032 coin cells but always seem to run out as I have a habit of changing them right away when I get a new old computer. Bad batteries cause all sorts of weird problems which can be mistaken for hardware failures.

The BR batteries are not available in my local stores so I need to order them online. At the moment I am waiting for some more of them to arrive but it seems to take some time.

Hey all, in another post I mentioned that I had determined that my 25 yr. old clock battery is not the original.
This ruins my plans on contacting Guinness World Record. I know, very disappointing.
After removing it to do a voltage test, it was determined that it was replaced in July 2010.
Anomaly busted.
Oh well.

Hello first time on this forum so I hope this is the right place to post my question. I picked up a G4 Ibook at an estate sale and it works great on 10.4.11 Tiger except the connection to wi-fi is very spotty. The machine does not connect to my wifi network on bootup. Then when I click on the airport card icon it usually says "There was an error connecting to the network." After maybe 10-15 tries it might connect but then loses the connection when it wakes from sleep. I would appreciate any help on resolving this problem.
