Managed to install on my MP 1,1 today.
I had to create the bootable USB using the terminal command. Somehow the version created by Disk Utility does not boot for me.
I tried running Migration Assistant to port over some data but somehow when I wasn't able to sign into the user account even with the right password. Had to reinstall and port over the data via the traditional copy and paste.
Other than that, the MP is working alright so far. Looks like I can use this for a few more years. Will spend some money of ext drives for backups just in case.
I have a x1900 xt card in my 1,1 will it be really bad if i go for mavericks now, should i wait and try and pick up a 5770 etc?
Just installed on a Mac Pro 1,1 with a 5770. I even did it on a Fusion drive (setup the fusion drive using the terminal on the boot USB stick).
ONE MAJOR PROBLEM: I upgraded from 10.9.0 to 10.9.4 using software update and it replaced the boot EFI, making it incapable of booting (Oh noooooooo)..
I had to boot back off of my original stick and copy the hacked boot.efi from the stick over to the HD in two places (System/Library/CoreServices/boot.efi and usr/standalone/i386/boot.efi)
ALSO: The boot.efi in CoreServices is freaking LOCKED (rofl Apple!), so you need to unlock it either through the finder or using this command before you can move/delete/replace it in the terminal
chflags nouchg /Volumes/[drive location]/System/Library/CoreServices/boot.efi
Working great once again though, now running 10.9.4. I wonder if Apple will break this again in the future.
----------
X1900 will not run in Mavericks, IIRC. you can use nearly any card but the x1900 and GeForce 7600GT, including PC cards compatible with Mavericks (which there are a lot). Just watch out for boot screens. The problem is lack of EFI64 driver support in these cards
You can always buy a "mac edition" card, flash one yourself, or buy a pre-flashed card from macvidcards' ebay store.

[doublepost=1457726846][/doublepost]Hi, i have a mac pro 1.1 with ati radeon 5770, You explain how you can modify the tiamo boot.efi? first use the sfott and modify the boot.efi in the usb or before making usb modify the boot.efi? excuse my English. thanksUse Sfott
Hey !
if you want a use the Tiamo's boot.efi (and you should , really)
Just use my Sfott script.
you'll need USB key and a Mavericks installer App in your Applications Folder
then launch my Sfott script and in 25 min you'll have a perfect bootable key using the Tiamo's boot.efi and you'll be good to go and install mavericks on your Macpro1,1.
no terminal commands just answers questions.
I did it on MacPro1,1 and MacMini2,1.
Still working on enhancements on the script itself.
Tiamo did a really good job.
Read the How-to before if you like.
I have good feedbacks from people who downloaded it
bye
