It´s crazy..I bought sony 1000XM3 for 200 bucks and these are almost 3x times as expensive with ugly case, heavy, can´t be turned off, 10 hour shorter battery life...do people really buy these?
I love my XM3. I couldn't see buying AirPods Max for the price. It's just too much for what they do.

Had the AirPods Max and returned them. The build quality was truly awesome as was the look. And the transparency mode was amazing. However, the sound quality was no better than my Sony XM4 and they were half the price - literally because in Canada Apple charged far more than the exchange rate. I also find no issue with the XM4 buttons - take a couple of seconds to turn off and on. Apple should price these more competitively IMHO - they are not in the same league as the high end B&O.

Life so expensive at the moment. Inflation in last 10 years has been mind boggling.
If you are going to come to market with headphones that are 3x and beyond the cost of everyone else they need to be at least twice as good. Not 10% better. Sorry here in Aus $1000 for an iPhone is fine. But for headphones like that? Hard pass.

Headphones isnt about OS or UI or icloud ecosystem, its just a thing you have on your head playing great sound. Why pay 3x more?
Yeah, that's the thing about AirPods: they are integrated into the OS -- across Mac, iOS and Apple TV. They're tied to your Apple ID and show up automatically on every device you're signed in to. They also offer Apple-specific features that are not available on non-Apple headphones, like Spatial Audio, Find My integration, instant switching between devices, Live Listen, iMessage integration...

And no, they're not "3x more" than a comparable pair of headphones. Not sure where you got that!

Well they are.. 1000XM3 cost around 200 bucks these days and airpods max cost 550. And they are well comparable headphones in terms of quality and features.

Ok fair enough, I guess these features are worth 350 bucks for somebody. Hard to imagine though why would anyone sacrifice 10 hour of battery life, good case, on off button, less weight and 350 bucks for features like having their phones paired to an apple id or find my…

No new AirPods Max color is announced today and the special music event disappeared. So there is no point to wait for new colors as we don't know when they will be released?

They need a silver earcups with black band and cushions option to match the Mac Studio and Studio Display.

They should also look at dropping the price to just 50-70 USD more than the AirPods Pro and they’ll sell like hotcakes. (Also add MagSafe charging to the ear ups, or band. Or just have a stand you can charge them on by hanging them on it.)

That said I kind of hope Apple doesn’t come out with a new set of AirPods Max, I really want them but I know I’m going to need to buy the Dyson Zone as my next pair of stupidly expensive headphones. I’m allergic to perfume and those might allow me to leave the house safely more often. (It’s basically like being allergic to most women and teenage boys. Imagine if you’d get a migraine for days every time a woman gets within. 3 feet of you.)
