Honestly, I know this is a very niche request but, all I want for a future Apple Watch is for it to work with wireless / MagSafe chargers. I’m upgrading my iPhone this year specifically for USB C, but hate the fact I STILL have to carry a separate charger for my watch. Unless the EU mandate is going to change this?

Granted, I know I’d still have to carry a wireless charger for the watch, but I carry one anyway when travelling, I don’t know how they’re still allowed to get away with a crappy proprietary standard

Apple is now considering a magnetic band attachment system, but it is currently unclear whether it will be ready or present on the Apple Watch X.
thinking more about this and the more stupid that idea goes:
several activities (eg rock climbing, mountain biking ...) are rather impact intense. if the system were magnetic, it would have to be easy to change bands yet strong to hold a band in place? I don't think that works. and then think about a potential fall, and you hit you watch during the fall and the magnet releases - what happens to fall detection?
makes zero sense

the sensor on the AW is curved, a standard Qi or MagSafe charger is flat --> more heat, less efficiency

Maybe change that then? People are talking about how good it is mfi is going to be a thing of the past soon, yet they continue to get away with it with the watch. MagSafe is now a wireless charging standard so imo there’s no reason they can’t make this happen, other than the same reason the iPhone never got type C before now; money.

the sensors need to "stick out" a little to have full functionality, if you were to make the sensor area flat, the watch would be far less comfortable to wear (you'd have somewhat "sharp" edges.
so I don't see the curved sensor shape changing ...

A bunch of people are misunderstanding what is meant by magnetic bands...

It does NOT mean the power of the magnet is what holds the band to the watch. As people have noted even powerful magnets would occasionally disconnect. What this is undoubtably referring to is a combination magnetic / physical system that have become all the rage in action cameras (other than GoPro) the last few years.

The way it works is strong magnets are placed in the band end and the watch. This "aligns" the two when you bring it close. Then the watch will have two small "dimples" on the edge and latches embedded in the watch band will latch to the dimples and provide a solid lock to the watch. Pressing a button on the back of the watch will release the latches. To see how this works in action cams I've attached a video of how it works on the DJI Action 2 / 3 / 4 (and the new Insta360 GO3 also uses this system), but I could see this being very, very secure and much faster to link than our current bands today. It also reduces the need for the case to be as large so you could make the watch smaller and thinner, or keep it the same size and stuff more battery etc. inside.

I'm not buying a new Apple Watch until it measures blood pressure und sugar levels.

On top of that, battery life must increase and the screen size should be no bigger than that of the Series 6. And Apple Health should be added to iPadOS.

just that? lol. I kid, I kid but blood pressure and blood sugar is the holy grail... they are absolutely working on it but they are super difficult problems to solve in a watch. your current watch may not survive long enough to wait for those features...
