Apple is planning to debut an enhanced Lock Screen with iOS 16, improved multitasking in iPadOS 16, refined navigation in watchOS 9, additional smart home features in tvOS 16, redesigned apps in macOS 13, and more, according Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

In the latest edition of his "Power On" newsletter, Gurman outlined his expectations for all of Apple's upcoming operating systems, including iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9, tvOS 16, and macOS 13. He believes that the updates will be "fairly significant."

Apple is reportedly planning to introduce a number of changes to the Lock Screen with iOS 16, including a new kind of wallpaper that displays information:
Apple is planning major enhancements for the Lock Screen, including wallpapers that have widget-like capabilities.

Further, I'm told iOS 16 builds in future support for an always-on lock screen, something Apple was originally planning for last year's iPhone 13.
With regards to iPadOS 16, Gurman expects "major changes to windowing and multitasking," while tvOS 16 will purportedly gain "more smart-home tie-ins."

Gurman expects the Messages app to gain "more social network-like functionality, particularly around audio messages." The Health app is not expected to expand to iPadOS or macOS, although "plenty of new features" are said to be on the way that work with the iPhone and the Apple Watch.

watchOS 9 will allegedly include "significant improvements to watchOS that affect day-to-day operating and navigation," alongside refreshes for existing Apple Watch faces and a new Low Power Mode.

Gurman claims that macOS 13 will overhaul System Preferences to bring it more in line with iOS's Settings app, including individual settings being organized by app, as well as other redesigns for default apps.

iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9, tvOS 16, and macOS 13 are expected to be previewed at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on Monday, June 6, followed by a beta testing period before the updates are widely released in the fall.

thank the Apple gods.
The way Settings are handled on the Mac is a mess.
For example, want to show harddrives on your desktop?
You’d think The options for what appears on your desktop would be in the system preference labeled “desktop,” but nope, it’s in the Finder preferences which are different than the system preferences for… some reason.
On an unrelated note why does macOS have something like five different built in note taking functions?
Notes, stickies, pages, text edit, and now the new quicknote thing.
I feel like some of these can be combined.
Oh and my final request, put iOS style widgets in the launchpad so it can basically become a new modern dashboard instead of the half-feature it is now

No plans for the Health app to come to iPad?

How I’d love to see a year’s worth of health data spread out on my iPad Pro’s display instead of pinching and scrolling on my iPhone.

Maybe one day, maybe in my grandkid’s lifetime, Apple will overcome the incredible technical hurdles that prevent the Health app from running on the iPad.

Why should they include this on the iPad? I mean it syncs with my applewatch on my phone so no need for this on the iPad at least in my opinion.

For macOS 13 it would be cool to have a text size selector just like we have it on iOS/iPadOS, but I guess they assume that changing the rendering of the screen on HiDPI screens is enough. Some need bigger fonts on macOS, Apple!

Because it would be nice to be able to see your health status and progress on the iPad when you are using the device, instead of having to stop and pick up the phone, which has a much smaller screen. There is also the fact that many people would like to use the Apple Watch, don't own an iPhone but, they do own an iPad. Bringing the Heath App and pairing to the iPad would open up more sales for Apple and more usability for the users of said devices.

Multiple windows On iPadOS? So I don’t need to manage the annoying slide over? Sounds good on paper. But if apple’s recent implementation on other things is anything to go by, I expect quirkiness regarding their implementation And strange design decisions that intentionally hold the feature back.

Please also make iPadOS 16 compatible with the Mini 5. I can’t afford to upgrade without using a CC and I have enough debt already. Besides I am happy with my Mini 5.

Just upgraded my IPhone, appleTV, and applewatch so my finances are burned out.
Considering iPadOS 15 is still supported on the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 4, I don’t think you’ll have much to worry about with iPadOS 16 getting on your mini 5!

The most annoying thing I’ve ever experienced is scrolling in iPadOS, accidentally clicking a link and opening it in split screen view. To then close that is such a hassle. Any other solution would be greatly appreciated.
This. Split screen handling is bad. The hoops you jump thru to get rid the extra window is very “user unforgiving”. Side by side, pop over, side by side. Slide the divider to collapse/remove the unwanted window. Euh. Just give me a close button like the tabs in Safari!
