Yes. I mentioned it because it seemed that without a remote invasive implant, it can be a challenge to measure some things.

Using non-invasive Apple Watch sensors, temperature of the body could be guesstimated. Blood sugar could be guesstimated.
I'll leave it up to  to innovate)

Yes.

An actual body temperature sensor would be nice. I know accuracy can be a problem, which is why they just did trends last time (but left out fever detection for whatever reason). Perhaps it's an insurmountable hurtle. Maybe they need to consider a new sensor in AirPods instead for accurate temperatures.
Whatever it takes))

AirPods could accurately measure body temp from the ear and report it to your Apple Watch etc.

That’s likely coming. So discussion of it is productive after all.

Now I feel better not having to berate everyone with dumb comments - yours was good :)
Yes, I heard the AirPods bit as well. I'm fine with that solution, of course that would mean we'll need to update our AirPods for that and oh, USBC)))

Apple Watch Ultra 2. This is what you have been waiting for. Next week!

I do get a sense the updates won't all be internal. Maybe the squared-off concepts that were making the rounds last cycle, are coming this cycle. I'd be ok with that.

Is that it, I want a brighter display, the u1 is already fine no one has ever said it’s not good
Interesting! You don't find the display of the Ultra bright enough?

I would be interesting to see if the next version of Apple's HRM will be more accurate. It frequently has a hard time detecting my HR when my hands (and therefore wrists) are cold and I often do have cold hands. But, I don't rely on the optical HRM for running; I use a chest strap which is way more accurate and reliable.

In the LAB. Because this stuff is HARD. 😬
I know it is hard and Samsung has pretty clearly shown with their galaxy whatever watch they introduced last year that they did not work hard enough…

But, this is Apple, we pay premium prices for them to work hard. Imho Apple has been somewhat stagnant in the health area for AW, they need to do better

Good example of how optical HRMs can vary by individual.

Since testing against garmin w/ chest HRM on an S2 or S3 I ditched the chest strap - the AW readings were never more than 1bpm off. Except when the chest strap was wonky 'cuz I wasn't sweating or forgot the electrode gel.

Heart rate monitor improvements are good. It’s too slow to update during workouts. My Oura ring updates much faster. When doing interval training, accurate, timely numbers are important…

I wonder if it’ll be a more power efficient OHR Monitor that will now give readings every second and also better and more frequent HRV readings. This would have some nice fitness benefits. Slight accuracy improvement would be good, too, even though it’s already likely the best OHR monitor on a watch.

My series 4 has been ticking along since I bought it when it first came out. Is the blood pressure sensor really coming out next year? I feel like I could wait one more year if that's the case.

1bpm off isn't a big deal.

For me, my issue was the optical HRM was not detecting my HR AT ALL! LOL. It was NOT reporting anything. It often does that.

And regarding using electrode gel. I don't use it. Y'all might be grossed out, but I use my saliva and it works. No big deal. Been doing it for 2 decades and I haven't gotten ill. LOL. And when I say saliva, I mean I often just do a quick lick of the strap. Yup! LOL.

Rest assured they are working on this, and very hard, too. Apple know very well that blood pressure (and blood glucose even more so) will make the Watch interesting (if not indispensable) for a whole new, very large group of potential buyers. But premium prices do not make physics budge and hard problems just go away quickly. These things need to be super reliable, too. It just takes a lot of research - and time.

Agreed, on both counts. +/- 1bpm is noise. Thus I found the OHRM to be functionally equivalent to chest-strap HRM for my usage, and DC Rainmaker's various tests seem to concur. There's always some for which it isn't though, such as your experience with dropouts.

I did the spit-on-the-pads thing as well - when I didn't have a faucet to use - but found gel worked better in winter months when the air was dry. Basically quit with the chest strap when optical was doing as good or better as I needed.

All this is great.

But >30% better battery life (than Series 7/8) and the Ultra’s display on the standard AWs are the improvements that will make me upgrade.

Whenever I hear “new sensors” I always think “battery life unchanged at best”.

But whatever it turns out to be. I can’t imagine series 9 being the big upgrade that we saw from S3 to S4.

I find the heart rate monitor on my Series 7 very accurate; the problem is all my measurement are from 15 minutes ago!

I have a condition where my pulse regularly rises 60 bpm or more just from standing, or even when lying in bed will go up 40 bpm just from turning in bed.

The problem is not the accuracy but the frequency at which it measures.

Interesting! I've used my chest strap with the "spit way" as far "north" outdoors as Vancouver, Canada in the winter and it's worked well for me. Haven't run in the Sahara though ;-) Haha.

Blood glucose measurement would be a game changer. I wonder who will get there first? Hopefully Apple.
Blood glucose measurement? Continuous glucose measurement already exists (not Apple) although it actually doesn't measure glucose in the blood but measures glucose in fluids between spaces, so it is an estimate of blood glucose. Does continuous blood glucose measurement exist? I have not heard of such.

Vancouver, being coastal, isn't gonna be all that arid. :)

Whether lack of humidity or something else (maybe my hairy chest?), what I wrote was my experience here in north GA.
