Starting with iOS 17, the Wallet app on iPhone may be able to show balances for a wider range of credit cards set up with Apple Pay, according to a report today from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Currently, only the Apple Card's balance can be viewed in the app.

"The Wallet app will get an upgrade as the company pushes deeper into financial services," wrote Gurman. "That could include the app tying deeper into third-party credit cards to show balance information, mirroring the experience of the Apple Card."

Like many other financial-related features, it is possible that the expanded credit card balance feature would only be available in the U.S. at launch.

Gurman revealed this potential new Wallet app functionality as part of a broader recap of his WWDC expectations. His report outlines several details about Apple's long-rumored AR/VR headset, new Macs, iOS 17, and other announcements planned. WWDC begins with Apple's keynote on Monday, June 5 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time.

I LOVE the ease of the Card! American Express Gold was my main credit card, but I find myself using the Card far more often due to the convenience to be able to view the balance and categories easily. Also, it's so easy to predict the due date.
If Apple Wallet can do the same with the other credit cards, finances are going to be so much easier to manage and keep track.

Also, can we please implement a new category: Subscriptions.

I'd settle for the ability to sync my Apple Card data to my budget software. Give us an .ofx or .qfx export, or else set up a web interface so one of the bank integrators like MX, Plaid, or Finicity can provide an interface. As it is, my Apple Card is basically a black hole in my budget, so we only use it for our monthly Apple subscriptions. We'd use it a ton more if the information about the money we've been spending with it wasn't trapped in the Wallet app.

They already have CSV, OFX, QFX, or QBO export available with each statement.

I would love to see a reconcile feature included in the app. Something that I can just check off items that I know about and have paid. There are a few people like me who pay as you go, meaning that each evening I pay off the balance. I used to charge everything to my debit card, but now I use the Apple Card as a sort of firewall to by bank account, so there‘s less companies with direct access to my checking/savings.

Aside from the reconcile feature request, the Apple Card is the BEST credit card I have ever used. Transactions appear in real-time. And my kids have a limited credit for incidentals when they are out with friends as more and more establishments prefer electronic currency instead of cash. There’s no question about what I (or they) charged and how much. Love it!!

I wish they would make an option to hide Apple Cash. I use it sometimes but when the balance is $0 it would be great if it could be hidden until there is cash in there.

I closed out the Apple Card as I have cards with better rewards and benefits, but it would have been nice if the Apple Card and Apple Cash could have somehow also had an option to combine/hide the Apple Cash card.

Yup, the Pay As You Go would be a great feature. It's so helpful when you're using a certain credit card for a business expense that you'll get reimbursed. It's a feature available with American Express, and I find myself using it multiple times per month.

Note: Some of us don't want to use a dedicated credit card for work purposes because of the points.

I would hope that they would be able to display transaction level information for third-party cards, too. That's what I miss the most about non-Apple Card cards in Wallet -- you only see transactions made with that device. I'd prefer to see a running transaction log, just like I see in there for the Apple Card, and each credit card's proprietary app.
