Apple is not planning to launch new iPad models until around March 2024, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman claims.

In the most recent "Power On" newsletter, Gurman explained that the new Apple Pencil with USB-C comes ahead of an iPad refresh in the spring. He added that Apple has been working on the 11th-generation iPad, seventh-generation iPad mini, and sixth-generation iPad Air for some time.

Apple is apparently planning to release new iPads in March, which will likely "at least" include these three refreshed devices. The next-generation iPad Pro is also a possibility, but only the "more minor" iPad updates appear to be locked down for the spring at the current time.

Gurman added that he anticipates that the first-generation Apple Pencil will be discontinued alongside the ninth-generation iPad, since there will no longer be any new iPads on sale from Apple with a Lightning connector at that point. This change is not expected to happen "anytime soon."

Gotta keep these rumors coming… otherwise we don’t have anything to talk about right?

I would say the vast majority of people coming to this site could have predicted this following on the other news of no more iPad releases for 2023.

On another topic

If it ain’t M5 I’m not upgrading from my Apple Newton, M3 and M4 are just no where near powerful enough for my workflow.

Existing iPad users are least concerned about this because they are happy with what they have. I am not buying a new iPad until fall 2025 when my 2017 12.9 iPad Pro stops getting updates.

Another bold prediction…
If true, I question this strategy as consumers are not likely to upgrade during spring, iPad is a holiday gift (exclude the pro)

iPad mini with Face ID slimmer bezels and a m1 chip that’s all I ask
I’d be surprised if they put an M series in the iPad mini. It’s not really a device people use for computationally intensive tasks and I have a feeling Apple would likely keep a focus on power efficiency and keep it with A series processors. Unless they allowed it to function with a monitor in stage manager… in that case an M series processor would make more sense… but then there is the thermals and battery capacity etc. 🤔

It's like the 7th article in the week. Same news for all product categories 😂😂😂😂 republished in a week.

This with the notice today that a M2 24" iMac will be announced before the end of this month. What a boring company Apple is becoming concerning the delay to upgrade their entire Mac product line to M3.

Most of apples consumers don’t come on this site, don’t follow these rumors and wouldn’t care or want to care. Even if you buy an iPad at the end of its release cycle… it’s going to last years and years.

No argument there, but those consumers like to spend money at the end of the year, for holiday gifts…

The basic iPad is an insult to entry level pricing. The keyboard is also hideously expensive for what it is.
No one in their right mind adds an Apple keyboard to any iPad other than a Pro. Best to go with something like a Logitech keyboard/case which is easily half the price if you really need a physical keyboard for your iPad.

I think they are rushing M3 Macs out and M3 iPads because Apple believes China is gonna invade Taiwan soon

Where all those Apple Silicon Chips are made.

God, time to get the F out of this country. I will glad pay more for an iPhone to stop supporting a communist country.

I’m in a really weird situation where my 2017 12.9” pro works totally fine. Good for my money I guess, but as someone who started with the iPad 2 and don’t own a laptop it’s getting harder and harder to believe I will be using an iPad in a few years.

Gee that seems so unsurprising. :D

Can't really update the iPad line until the M3 is available with its hardware raytracing implementation for the GPU to support faster graphics. It will be interesting if both the mini and air see updates in 2024 rather then playing alternative year releases.

Exactly. There tends to be a massive failure by the MacRumors and 9to5 crowd to understand we are not Apple's bread and butter. We are a fairly unique subset among consumers of Apple products and not representative of where the vast majority of their profits come from. So many here forget these are business decisions that go far beyond chips and technology. Technophiles are not famous for their business acumen or their knowledge of business finance.
