We do not need new iPads. We need a revamped iPadOS.
I suspect that the Sonoma login screen is the first iteration of multiuser support UI for iPadOS. The design language is so much iOS based. If only they would actually implement it in iPadOS And not just limit iPad multiuser support for schools.

There tends to be a massive failure by the MacRumors and 9to5 crowd to understand we are not Apple's bread and butter. We are a fairly unique subset among consumers of Apple products and not representative of where the vast majority of their profits come from. So many here forget these are business decisions that go far beyond chips and technology. Technophiles are not famous for their business acumen or their knowledge of business finance.
I think MacRumors understand this. But apparently there are quite a few posters here who don’t understand it.

This will be a boring event. Let’s see, slightly new design forcing a new keyboard case, improved cpu/gpu, camera moved to the landscape orientation thus shifting the Apple Pencil to the top in portrait mode. New WiFi chip…same old iPadOS.

The iPad is becoming stale and unless they revamp the OS, there is nothing a 4 year old iPad can’t do that a new one can (without Apple intentionally blocking software features and claiming it requires the newest neural engine). It will be the best iPad we have ever made though, and our customers are gonna love it.

iPad mini with Face ID slimmer bezels and a m1 chip that’s all I ask

So you are wanting notch or island?

And how much higher do you want that price to go to pay for the spec upgrades?

Personally, I find the existing bezel "thin enough"... especially since it doesn't demand notch or island. Conceptually, the "as is" width is thick enough to also house Face ID tech. If so, I'd prefer keeping the existing and slugging that in for people who want it... though I'm perfectly happy with TouchID on the on/off button myself.

I never notice any slowdown/drag to make me think I would want M1. If they want Mini to go there, I'd prefer a new "loaded" model which would basically become a small form factor in the iPad Pro line... at iPad Pro pricing. If bringing an Mx chip, bring on the PRO MAX cameras, CarPlay support, full Apple Pay, etc. too... and I won't be surprised at 1.5X to getting towards 2X the existing pricing.

iPad is a necessity for me. When I usually show pictures and some information to clients, I can see them clearly with an iPad, which is much more convenient than carrying a heavy computer, no matter how it changes, I will need one always.

Now that I am used to iPhone 15 Pro Max and the iPad Pro's ProMotion screen, I really hope the Mini gets a ProMotion screen too. Because I really like the size, but the non-promotion screen really put me off while trying it yesterday in the store.

I'm waiting on the folding iPhone Ultra; an iPhone Pro Max/iPad mini (Pro) mashup, with integrated Apple Pencil storage...

So we have to wait even longer for what looks to be a small spec bump… Apple really tries it’s best to be boring these days.

Hoping they just disregard off all this back & forth and just ship a newsroom post with a mini on Tuesday 🤞

I think they are rushing M3 Macs out and M3 iPads because Apple believes China is gonna invade Taiwan soon
While China is often a topic of armchair generals, Apple's own Just-in-Time strategy across its hardware lines means that Apple does not stockpile products.

So why would Apple announce products for which it could not deliver?

Getting back to China: Tim Cook's recent trip suggests that he is well aware of what is going on, much more so than many US talking heads on TV about the subject.

.... to stop supporting a communist country.

The PRC is "communist" in the same way that Apple is. I.e., not.

The PRC is run by an authoritarian oligarchy that still has "communist" in its name but the reality is private property is practiced in China.

Xi is a wannabe dictator who has partially succeeded in becoming one. Whether he will end up like Mao is yet to be determined.

Regardless, it is unlikely Apple (and the rest of the electronics industry) will be able to extricate themselves from hiring companies in China to make their goods.

All of which may mean that the world economy will come crashing down if/when the PRC does decide to use military force wrt Taiwan.

At this point, iPad Pro should only be updated every 2.5-3 years, rathe than the current 1.5 years.
Personally, I still don't see much point updating my 2017 10.5 iPad Pro ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Make an ipad pro with the camera on the right side instead of on the top and you can take my money!

No one in their right mind adds an Apple keyboard to any iPad other than a Pro. Best to go with something like a Logitech keyboard/case which is easily half the price if you really need a physical keyboard for your iPad.
eBay is your friend.
