Yes, but they haven't been hacked, unlike Vista.

You're totally right. The measures that Apple implemented to prevent OS X from being installed on a standard PC are so weak that you can't really call that hacking/cracking...

You seem to be implying that there are hacked versions of Leopard floating around. To be honest, I've never heard of them, and Killyp obviously hasn't either. Are you sure these things exist?

NB: Please do not post links to pirated material.

It has nothing to do with Microsoft having enemies.

It has everything to do with the fact that the pricing of Microsoft's OS has become increasingly expensive over the years.

But if the salesman says and it runs Vista and the average person watches their news... They won't want to jump on that computer.

you think if a person is not so savvy about computer, they'd care, not to mention remember, news about Vista's activation process being hacked?

i would imagine only very techy website or techy part or website would have such news... you think ppl who aren't savvy about computer would go there?

and for ppl who are savvy about computer, it's not like just because vista's activation process's been compromised they'd think twice about vista if they were to get it

and plus... i dont see how this affect a lot of ppl, consumers, or corporates, aside from MS

and in what sense is this +1 for Leopard 10.5 (it doesn't even make sense... it sounds like the software you are +1 to has name of Leopard, and it is the 10.5 version of Leopard)

No kidding. $160 for Home Premium, and that's just the upgrade. $250 for Ultimate (upgrade; full version $400  ).

It also has to do with MS's ridiculous anti-piracy measures (WGA), affecting legitimate buyers more than pirates (who just run cracks anyway).

Wouldn't it be the other way around, means there's a "backup plan" in place in case you can't activate for whatever reason. :D

I was just recently in Thailand and while shopping there near the big department stores around Siam square and the like, I came across this big "computer store" full of pirate AND legal software....Pirated software was on floors 1 to 3 and Legal software was on the floors above..

Just to make it clear - I DID NOT BUY Any pirated software because 1) I have an Imac and 99% of the stuff was for windows 2) I have the money to pay for the real thing - people pay me for doing my job so I should pay people for doing theirs...

Anyway, the point to this is...I saw the business version of Vista that had just been released cracked and running on computers, I also saw X-box 360 games copied and running on 360s.....

Look if its released - someone will cracked it and copy it or give it to their friends to use....

and their reason ?? Most Thais cant afford to pay the high prices that these software companies charge - Now why I DONT condone this action...I do know that if these companies drop the prices then I do believe that these people wouldnt pirate the stuff

Lowering the price might help some, but it's become to wide spread for people to stop pirating software just cause it's cheaper. I know a lot of college students who pirate software, and i can't figure it out. They know they can get it cheaper (journeyed.com or academicsuperstore.com), but they still pirate it. What's that mean? People are cheap, and nothing is better than a free ride. Sucks for developers and software corps, but that is life.

For the record i don't pirate software myself, i am a college student and can afford $150 for Office and $380 for CS2

Let's not forget that Apple makes the bulk of its profits selling hardware as opposed to Microsoft who make most of their money selling software. In order to run Leopard, legal or illegally, you're going to need an Apple computer. Vista can be run on any PC clone.

What was I getting at? Oh yeah ...

A hacked copy of Vista is going to hurt Microsoft a lot more than a hacked copy of Leopard would hurt Apple.

Is this were I bring up the amount of Apple's that come into our Service Center? Not to mention I have to get a two button mouse to sort my links in FireFox because you can't use Ctrl<Click or Command<Click to get to the Context menu. Even though you can sort by name in the BookMarks Manager it won't sort the ones in the Tool Bar Folders.

You can't even sort by name in Safari even if you could Right Click as you do as an after thought on the PC. Want to guess how many calls I get a day of people asking me if X,Y,Z software, peripherals will work on an Apple?

Wrong topic. What does your post has to do with anything. And still the same old stupid right click.. Get a PC and right click all day and night.

It's crap like this that is so frustrating. Nobody knows the potential of OSX so they stick with their 400 dollar PC running a fresh copy of Vista. Who the hell wants to deal with all this technical stuff?

Did you buy a computer just to maintain it all the time and take care of viruses, spyware, and all the other CRAP that Windows carries?
NO!

I bought a MAC so I can be productive and not have to deal with this ****.

Sorry for that little bashing I get frustrated sometimes.

Perhaps you should take your own advice. I was responding to what someone said in the thread which pertained to Microsoft/Hardware and Software, a two button mouse comes "standard" with a PC.
