Got 7 friends who has the iphone 4. None of them have antenna problem, or the sensor problem when held up to the ear. 4 Purchased at 5th Apple Store, 3 purchased outside of New York City.

All working great and without a bumper.

I too saw the iPhone 4 for the first time recently and it looked and felt great. I tried the reception issue too but I assumed the AT&T store had a microcell of some sort. But, what bothered me the most was that on 2 of the 3 units they had a scratch on the screen. I'm not sure how these occurred but it is scary that there was a scratch.

OMG!! WTF!! The display is amazing! And is probably the best display out there atm.

You need to get yourself to spec savers asap, seriously!

So today I jumped into the 02 store and had a look at the new iPhone 4 (1st time since it came out as I havnt had time to go shopping lately)

1st thing I think the new design is slick and looks great and the speed of the device is excellent. I think the new retina display looks great HOWEVER... absolutely been over exaggerated in these boards... its good but its not as "God like" as allot of people have been making it out to be.

For the signal issue... I tried everything and could not get it to drop below 4 bars :S I tried holding it like everyone who's having issues with and no matter what I did it wouldn't drop signal.... (I even got odd looks from the 02 guy in store when he saw me trying to hold it in different ways)

Camera Quality is great looks much better than the 3G's camera that my sister owns.

I know allot of people wont even care about this thread... I am just posting to tell how I thought of it and what my experience was. This is not a review of any kind...

I was quite shocked about the signal not dropping... as I expected it to happen quite fast due to all the complaints and threads about it but seriously... it would not drop below 4 bars. (Might just be a one off though... I do not doubt all the people who have the issues as you guys with the issue have proven it in multiple ways which I hope you soon will obtain a fix for)

I like it so I am going to get one... 1st iPhone I will have owned.

As someone who uses their iPhone extensively every single day and always has done, the Retina Display was a MASSIVE stand out to me and is not in anyway exaggerated. And no-one here has used the term "God like" for it, that's a bit far I agree!

You mention that the iPhone 4 will be the first iPhone you will have owned, and you mention having your sister's 3G as your only comparison. Trust me, the camera on the iPhone 4 is more than "great" or "much better" than the 3G.

Again, my wife and I take our two black Labradors on trips to the Scottish seaside at Troon and Barassie and I used to take photos of them on the 3G and even used a third party video recording app to enable 15/20fps VGA video recording on the iPhone 3G ... the iPhone 4 is a massive step up in terms of quality.

Not trying to be condescending, but as a user who does use every feature possible on his iPhone and does so almost daily, I find the iPhone 4 to be a fantastic all-in-one device for what I require, and a huge step up from the iPhone 3G I left behind.

You need to make your own mind up i am on my 4th iPhone with o2 and no i can't make the bars go down on my ip4 i love it, but i have very good reception where i live, i do feel for the people who don't live in a great reception area, but the ip4 is the best yet "BAR" none

I totally understand and obviously you use iphones allot more than I have, but I have been using an ipod touch since they launched (then my ipad too) which are or at least the ipod touch are the same as the older iphone screens. I know the difference is fantastic and does look great, I just feel allot of people around here have bloated it up to be something greater than the heavens when its really not :S. I wouldn't say the screen is the best screen I have ever seen etc like many have done. It is one of the best I have seen on a mobile its just not to me personally (again my opinion is my own and not fact) as great as I think people have portrayed it.

Still loving the phone and all the cool new features, enough that I would like to buy one. So its win in my case. (Or Apples I guess)

When you eventually get your iPhone 4, sit it beside your iPod touch and use both ... the reason people are raving about the Retina Display will become a little clearer my friend.

Unless of course you already had your iPod touch with you when you tried the iPhone 4 out, and compared them in the store.

Well I notised the difference even before comparing it to my friends 3GS in the store, it was obvious to me that the screen was far better. Dont get me wrong I think the screen is great looks fantastic, I just think it got over hyped a bit and my expectations might have been exagerrated.

Wait until you go for a week with the iPhone 4 then return to the previous versions.

This.

Maybe the display doesn't make you kneel down the first time you see it. But my experience over the first week with the unit was continuously increasing appreciation for the display.

Bars mean nothing on all cell phones and are just a hold over from analog cell service. Unfortunately if a phone didn't have these "fake" signal indicators consumers would be turned off so they are still included. A better and more accurate system would be an indicator if the device loses or doesn't have service.
