I have the 14 PM right now on iUP. The order confirmation screen is making it seem like I'll need to return the 14PM immediately when I pick up the 15PM on Friday at the store. But, I'd really prefer to be able to set things up and make sure everything is setup correctly in the comfort of my own home rather than rushing to do it at the store, or needing to restore from an iCloud backup (vs. the transfer it'll do phone to phone).

Anyone know how Apple handles this? Will I have a choice of not returning the phone immediately? Will I need to return the old phone right away? Can I return the phone to the store at a later date? Will they mail a box for me to return it like that if requested when I pick up the 15PM?

Appreciate any insight anyone has. I've always been able to get my new iPhone delivered on launch day, but the 15's order process was a mess and I couldn't get it ordered quick enough.

No you don’t have to return right away. Pick up your new phone at apple. They’ll ask if you trading in your previous device. Say no. Then go home and enjoy ur new phone. You have 14 days to return it or ship it. Don’t ship it. Just to back to the Apple Store and return it. Done deal. I’ve been doing this for years. Also by the time that apple kit arrives to me I had already return the phone back to apple. Dropping off at Apple Store is better and faster. Also your previous citizens loan closes out quickly after that.

No need to turn it in right away. You have 14 days after you pick up to turn it in and you can do it at the store. When you selected the in store pick up for iUP, you do not get the trade in kit shipped.

They send you a kit to return the current phone. You never have to make the switch at the same time.

The kit will have instructions, and then you drop it off at UPS or FedEx, depending.
If its in store pick up for iUP there is no trade in kit, it’s usually done at the store.

I am wondering the same thing. I do not want to sit at the store to setup my phone. Hoping they will let me return within the 14 day window.

Return it to the store, per my understanding dealing with IUP in the past. If you have it shipped, then you have to ship the return as the store is not equipped with it. I experienced this firsthand last year. I am no longer in IUP as I bought and will buy full price.

This is for iPhone shipped to buyer’s address. In store pick-up does not get the trade-in pick-up, at least what my past experience was.

Thanks everyone. Do I need an appt to return the 14PM when I’m done? Or just bring the phones into the store whenever I’m ready within 14 days?

You can just bring it in, no need to make an appointment. If they are busy they will just queue you in the system any day
