OK, we all now know it won’t actually be called the Apple iPhone, and we all know it’s going to be announced in January, but we still don’t know what this mythical device will actually look like, nor what features it will have.

The latest rumours suggest an extremely small form factor, using two batteries (with single charger) – one for playing music, the other for phone functions – with two models, each featuring 4GB and 8GB of flash memory respectively ($249 for the 4GB model, $449 for the 8GB version). We can also expect a slide-out keyboard and possibly a touchscreen.

Um. What?

This made me laugh.

wait till we look back on this in 4 years :) OMG MY ANTENNA DOESN'T WORK... "2015: What's an antenna do?"

I love the part about it saying it won't be called the iPhone, and that it will use two batteries! What the hell!

"Why the Apple phone will fail, and fail badly"

hahaha . great thread. giving me something to read while i sit here watching the Young Comdedians Shows 89' on HBO

It's amazing how much better the iPhone turned out to be than the rumors made it seem. Too bad the iPad wasn't the same, the rumors definitely gave a much better idea of what kind of device the iPad would be and there weren't too many surprises left.

Go back even further in the MR archives, like 2004-2005. It's fun to look back and see the rumors that actually turned out to be true years later. We know Apple was working on the iPhone for about 3 years and if you go back you can find little bits and pieces.

It's great to laugh at the past, but we all were just as clueless as those people making predictions so joke's on us too, kinda... lol.

s customers start to realise that the competition offers better functionality at a lower price, by negotiating a better subsidy, sales will stagnate. After a year a new version will be launched, but it will lack the innovation of the first and quickly vanish.
HA, over 3 years later and the competition still isn't as good.

Depends on your point of view and how you use cell phones. No cell phone is best for every single person on the planet; that point-of-view is a pretty ignorant one to take and entirely too many people do it.

Is the iPhone (any of them) a great product? Sure.

Best cell phone ever in the history of cell phones for everyone that uses one? Not hardly...

Good, yes, best, not even. Be nice if people could understand that.

Unless you can find me an alien cell phone lightyears ahead of the iPhone... then no, the iPhone is the best cell phone in the history of cell phones :apple:

Your iPhone says even with it's flaws, it's still better then the HTC EVO and years ahead of any BlackBerry which is why you have it.

"The Kool-Aid runs deep in this one..."

Sorry, but you're saying that a phone that's got 4G capability (and everything else available) and superior speeds because of it (EVO) is inferior to a phone that's limited drastically by 3G capability max (iPhone 4, when it works)?

Since when does a technically superior product (EVO + 4G) suddenly become inferior out of the box just because someone likes another product (iPhone 4 + 3G)? See what I mean about "best" - because more people would say having 4G capability is definitely a superior aspect on a cell phone than being limited to 3G max.

It's impossible to have a "best cell phone" - it IS possible, however, to have a "best cell phone for me" which is where you and most others always screw things up when making your claims which are based on purely personal opinions alone.

Do you even bother to think at all or consider what you're about to say before you actually post something? Ever?

And I have this iPhone 4 because it was a gift... I would never have actually paid for such a thing. ;)

If you don't like it and didn't pay for it, why are you still using it? There are a ton of people who would gladly take it out of your death grip.

You're in every thread complaining. S...t or get off the pot.
