I've recently been having all kinds of problems with my computer (RMBP 15" 16GB ram, 256 GB SSD). It started getting the screen burn thing, and despite never having any page in/outs or ever using all the ram it gets laggy anytime I try to have a number of programs open...

but, I'm not going to try and tackle all that here. It's probably just time for a visit to the store, but I was looking in my activity monitor today and noticed it is only showing a 60GB hard OSX hard drive. I have 125 used for bootcamp which shows up in disk utility along with the 60GB os x. How did half of my hard drive disappear? Is there anything I can do before trying to reformat and reinstall everything? thanks :)

sorry 251 not 256. Point still remains though :p looks like about 65GB is just unaccounted for.

thanks :) but I'm not trying to figure out what's using my current hard drive space. I want to know why that drive is only 60 GB total (used and unused combined) while my bootcamp drive is 125GB total. This is only 185GB. It's a 251GB machine so how come it doesn't add up?

Anybody have any ideas? If not no worries, I think I'm gonna take it in to get the burn in/ghosting thing looked at so I can ask them about this while I'm there. But thought I'd bump this once just in case. thanks :)

I'm sorry, I haven't checked back here in a few days. But I had figured it out. You were right to check Disk Utility again. For some reason there was a bunch of unallocated space with the main partition shrunk down. I don't remember what I did to shrink it :p but I reallocated all the unused space back into it and am good to go again. Thanks :)
