Oh no! Now that you've shown me that link I feel like I *have* to fold more... at my current rate I'll outfold BlackAdder on 04.27.11, @ 4pm. :) Although once I get home and I figure out how to utilize the hyperthreading and when I OC my CPU... he best watch out... :)

Hmmmm... so I should be running two instances of F@H on my P4 2.4 with HT? If somebody can tell me how/what I'm supposed to do I'll go ahead and do it... then once that runs stable for a week I'll slowly start overclocking it (I can OC it in the BIOS easily) until it reaches a good neutral point. I never use the durn machine anyhow...
Here's how I do it:
I download two F@H text consoles for Windows, set them up in their own directories, configure them by opening the command prompt and running FAH4Console.exe -configonly, then tell Windows to run them as scheduled tasks on system startup, using the -local and -service switches, and unchecking the box that says stop this task if it runs for more than X hours. Once that's done, I restart, then open Task Manager, and assign each F@H core to a logical processor.

Well... hmmm... I think it's working... I guess I'll find out... will it show 2 CPU's on my stats page once I get a WU turned in?

It should if you have the two clients as machine ID 1 and 2 seperately

Nanuq,
would you consider folding for the Macrumors team? You've been around these boards for a while and we certainly would love to have you in the team.
You are a one-man(woman?) team, so you'd be able to keep track of all your points just the same, and your personal overall stats won't be affected if you don't change username.
Besides, with your kind of production you'd swoosh up the ranks in our team and quickly reach a level for some healthy head-to-heads.
Hey, you might even pass me! ;)

just give it a thought

I used to fold under MacRumors under the nick twiztidn8v, and I'm still in 37th place, even though I'm idle under that nick. I've put some money into PowerMacUnited.com, so I'm not sure I want it to go to waste..... Understand?? Although nobody at this time seems to be joining my team, I keep hoping....

i visited powermacunited. cool homepage (i like the font), but how do you plan on getting the site and the team off the ground? It's very hard to start a "community" single handed.

how do you advertise/actively recruit? do you want to attract "switchers" from other teams or new folders?how do you plan on differentiating from the other many mac-oriented sites/teams?

I wish you luck with your team and your site, but as an alternative you could consider morphing it into a "home" for the macrumors team (if the people in charge of team 3446 agree, of course), where we could have infos, FAQs, links, stats and additional forums.

In any case, keep folding. You're doing a great job!

now i've been folding for a little while now and i don't mean to sound dumb but, how do you guys get these stats like how many daily points you get or how long it'll take to surpass another team and stuff like that?

a list of folding stat links:

http://www.statsman.info/folding2stats/html/
the official site. weird graphs

http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_list.php?s=
THE stat site

http://teamstats.macnn.com/fold/stats.php?page=b1&TID=3446
limited to macteams, but a lot of info and nice graphs

http://stats.geekfolding.com/
similar to EOC, but sortable. no graphs. Avg calculated differently

I had originally planned the website to be a home for MacRumors of sorts. It was just going to be a website with information, but I read something of the sort of uniting the mac teams, but it never fell through. However unlikely the idea is, I thought I would at least give it a try.

I've read in the folding forums, as a possible idea, to have the ability to have subteams within a team built into the stats and client, and I thought that maybe, if there were an option to mold more than one team over under a united name, this would be a great option for the various mac teams to unite under. I realize it's unlikely, but one will never know unless he/she tries...

To me it doesn't matter where members come from, but that they come at all [which seems to not be the case so far...].

Thanks for the well wishes, and the best to you and your team, you are doing quite well!

It sounds good to me, and I would like it if we could get all the mac teams under one name with subteams (like team 3446), but I wouldn't join by my own. I like the thought of individualism, what our team and page stands for. By putting every mac owner on one big pile, it isn't very mac/apple like, if you get my drift. Good luck with the page!
