This is interesting. Taking a photo at about 30 cm distance a pixels corresponds to 40-50 micrometers. At 3 cm distance a pixel might correspond to 5 micrometers. Very useful but not a microscope. A typical human cell in the body is 10 micrometers in diameter.

I just confirmed it works with iPad pro 2020. Tried the same distance with my phone and the same shot is blurry

Both shot with HalideView attachment 1782273
Ya, can confirm my 2020 iPP can focus shorter than my iPhone 12, about 8cm.

But no one seems to be able to confirm that a 2020 iPP can focus at a "much closer" distance that a 2021 model supposedly(?) can do.

Pointless discussion as the macro quality is really bad... if you invest 10 bucks you can get proper macro shots with an actually nice bokeh -not like in the picture of the article.
Anyone remotely interested in shooting macro has one of those...

It would be nice to have built-in macro, but that iPad camera is not it...

laughable to call this a microscope, the guy clearly doesn't have a clue what that would mean. From what I see it's even far from even being called a true macro with larger than 1:1 scaling.

Nevertheless... it's better to have a larger maximum magnification... yes. I hope this makes it into the iPhone... or how about 1:1 macro?

While this is pretty awesome stuff for me having a 2020 pro, it’s kind of annoying that apple is still not putting the same cameras in these as the iPhone Pro models.
You’d really like to see the price increased to be able to improve the photo quality of an iPad?
I believe there aren’t many customers with auch use cases.

Anyone who really does macro photography wouldn't use a phone or iPad. Both require you to be way too close to the subject. This makes proper lighting an issue. A macro lens on a real camera is a much much much better option. I take macro photo's every day, and use a 200 macro lens on a Nikon full frame camera. I couldn't come close to the results with an iPhone even with the best macro lens attachment.

This article feels like free advertising for the camera app mentioned in the title/body of the article. I was 1 tap away from downloading a camera app with in-app purchases until common sense kicked in…. No thanks!
