Handbrake and .mp4 format

How can I make a backup of a movie in .mp4 format using Handbrake? In the past, I have always just used the AppleTV preset. The problem with this is handbrake creates a .m4v file extension. I would like to have the file extension be .mp4 so my PS3 can recognize it.

I'm sure if you rename the extension .mp4 this should work fine

Check in the Preferences. There is a switch that determines whether to use .mp4 or .m4v as extension. Called something like Use iTunes Friendly Extension or so.
