handbrake and the air without superdrive

Is it possible? I was interested in ripping some movies but didn't want to go out and buy the superdrive. I would be using a dell running xp.

Just install HandBrake on the PC and use that.

or buy any of a number of usb optical drives that aren't the superdrive

Rip the DVD to an external drive from the PC (I use DVD Fab 8), Connect the hard drive to the air and point Handbrake to the DVD rips.
