On my first dvd rip i had a loud crack in the audio in the first 10 seconds of the movie. I stopped the movie there in case there were more in the movie. Is there something i did wrong? i ripped to a mp4 format with h.264 codec.
I'm using handbrake 0.9.3 on an imac core due 2ghz 3gigs of ram. Leopard 10.5.8

It sounds like you used appropriate options. The preset settings in Handbrake should work for what they say they are for. Try playing it again (maybe in a different program) and if the crack is still there, try to rip it again.

no scratches on the dvd, also i tried playing it in vlc and quicktime, still the same thing.
Also i should point out that even when the volume is low, the sound still cracks really loud, never seen anything like this before

yea i burned it on a data disc and played it in my ps3, it still glitches but not as loud as on my imac
Thanks for all the advice, everyone
