Hello, everyone. I'm having a little problem encoding one particular file with Handbrake that I hope one of the folks on here that work with the Handbrake project can help me figure out.

I am attempting to encode a .mkv file to .m4v to play on my :apple:TV. However when the encode gets to about the 80% mark HB is crashing every time. It's odd.

I'm using the :apple:TV preset in HB with the only change being I set Anamorphic from "loose" to "strict" to maintain the aspect ratio of the video. I've got the Console logs and the HB Encode log available, but not the HB activity log. The latter got reset when I launched HB again after the crash.

The .mkv file plays fine in both QuickTime and VLC, so I'm at a bit of a loss to understand why this keeps happening. I'll provide the logs on request.

    Regards,
    Michael

You have the activity log in the individual encode log directory. Right click on the activity window and you can open that directory using the bottom contextual menu command.

Ah, so I do have the right file. I was just calling it something else. Here's the log:

Thanks! I'll just wait for the next dev snapshot.

Why someone on the Handbrake forums couldn't have just told me that instead of locking my thread and permanently banning me I have no idea. Oh, well.

    Michael

Um, you *might* want to think about changing the names of your torrents if your gonna post a log on a public site. Just a suggestion. No discussion or mention of piracy is in the forum rules at HB (and frankly probably here as well).

That is a valid point. I'm not disputing that. But there are other threads on the HB forums requesting help converting .mkv or .avi files that were obviously obtained through "other" means and those threads haven't been locked or the accounts permanently banned.

I just thought it was a little rude and inconsistent is all. I'm simply venting a bit.

    Regards,
    Michael
