Are you meaning when trying to get handbrake to open the folder created by MTR. If so in "Browse" just point it to the top level folder and it should find the correct contents, if not direct it to the Video_TS folder.
I wasn't using MTR, just Handbrake. The Video_TS folder on this DVD contains 102 files, most of them movie files, and many of them over a GB in size. How would anyone know which one to choose?
Sorry for being so dense, but this is less than obvious to me. I saw a long list of files in the Open... menu of Handbrake. None of them looked obviously like the main film file, to me anyway.

well, its kinda difficult to believe tho. maybe you can test again and mention the bitrate you have been using?
H.264 might be 2~3x slower, but MPEG4 won't be 1000% faster....
Well, now Handbrake does not work for me, at all. The previous version (0.91) won't allow me to use the "Open Source" menu. I just get a system beep. The newest version (0.92) quits immediately on launch. I've tried replacing the application and trashing the preferences file, but no joy.
Are you using Leopard? You must have Leopard for 0.92.
For Tiger users encountering the "upgrade problem," here is the solution:
When you launch Handbrake 0.91, you'll be prompted with an upgrade dialog box presenting you with the (cryptic) choices "go get it" or "discard." You need to click "discard." Now you need to open Preferences, and deselect "check for updates," quit Handbrake and relaunch. You won't see the upgrade dialog box, and Handbrake will work.
