Handbrake with Two DVD Drives?

I was contemplating on purchasing a FireWire external DVD drive so I could encode two drives at once using Handbrake...

Does anyone know if this is possible?

I imagine your Mac would meltdown from the heat

I did it on my iMac- no problems. Couldn't believe how much faster the rip was with the external optical drive.
