Has anyone tried this? I have BiteSMS now, so I am sure I don't need it, but I love new tweaks/apps. Just wondering if its any good? I really only use the quick reply from BiteSMS, so if this quick reply is as good or better I may switch. BiteSMS sometimes is really slow for me if I have to launch and use the app, the qr is always fine though.

Installed it real quick to try it out. Hate it. Bitesms billion times better... plus the app feels too android like... its very.. non-animated if you know what i mean

(bleep) anything Android.

BiteSMS (currently using on my 4S) > Handscent SMS (which I used on my previous Android phones).

From personal experience, BiteSMS wins hands down! Not even close.

So, BiteSMS in better then?:D

I guess I will stick with what I have, but what makes BiteSMS better?

It's nice to finally see some real competition in the SMS app world. With iRealSMS pretty much dead due to developer abandonment, it's refreshing to see something that mostly works. Bite is great and will be my go to app but Handscent is not a bad release for version 1.0. Give it a few months and it'll be very competitive. It needs some iOS polish but my guess is that for at least his first release, he carried over most of the Android code. It's also free with no ads which is always a plus.

I cannot locate in Cydia!

Do these apps, Bite or Handcent still use iMessage for other Apple devices?

I love Handcent on my Android, so I am ecstatic that they released for iPhone too, sadly I am on 5.1, so until an untethered or downgrade is released I'm just going to have to wait to try it out. :(

It doesn't say to add a source, but I wonder if you do because it's not in my friends Cydia.

Had handcent on my droid 1 and I would say bitesms is hands down better on my 4s.
But yes good to have competition and hopefully they bring out the best for us

I installed Handcent and it caused the oddest problem. Every time I sent an email from the native app, it resprung. I deleted it and reinstalled it. Same problem. Anyone else encounter this?

Sorry to revive this old thread. I see why no one uses this app anymore. Anyway, I downloaded it to give it a chance. I hated it and am now trying to get rid of it. I uninstalled it through Cydia, yet it still shows in my Notifications menu in Settings. Also, when I receive a text message, it shows the blue Handcent icon on the popup and not the green Messages icon. I've reinstalled/uninstalled a bunch of times. How the hell do I get rid of this app?

Did you ever figure this out?

Nope. It's still on there. Any pointers?

Delete the hand cent folder pictured here.

And you should be good.

SSh.

You should get ifile. It's a great tool.
^^ This.

Note, that if the objection to iFile is cost, it's actually free with most functions enabled. There are just a few extra features that require purchase.

Handcent SMS notification center issue

I installed Handcent SMS because I love it on my android devices, it rarely crashes.

However on my iPhone 5 it crashes all the time. I uninstalled the Handcent app but now the stock messaging app does not show in my notifcation center, just the Handcent SMS app.

I deleted the Handcent folder with iFile but they still show up as Handcent notifcation and not stock message app notifications

any ideas
