Sorry to revive this old thread. I see why no one uses this app anymore. Anyway, I downloaded it to give it a chance. I hated it and am now trying to get rid of it. I uninstalled it through Cydia, yet it still shows in my Notifications menu in Settings. Also, when I receive a text message, it shows the blue Handcent icon on the popup and not the green Messages icon. I've reinstalled/uninstalled a bunch of times. How the hell do I get rid of this app?
Did you ever get it off your notifications? Sorry but I'm having the same problem .

----------

I found a preference folder, and there are tons of files inside, is there a specific one I need to delete? Or do I need to delete the whole thing?
Did you ever get it off your notifications ? Sorry I haven't

Nope. I deleted the folder with iFile and it still shows the blue handcent icon for text messages... still have Handcent SMS in my Notifications menu.:confused:

Agh same here and it's bugging me so much . If you find a way can you please let me know ? Thanks .

aargh

I wish I found this thread before.

I have deleted the Handcent folder using iFile and also the settings file for Handcent using Sprintomize under "/ More / Settings Files" and I still have Handcent in my notifications settings.

Furthermore in Springtomize under "More / MobileSubstrate Addons" there is a thing called "HCSMSIMAgent". Turning it off didn't produce any result tho.

How do I remove this thing?

Why not search handcentsms in ifile?

Here are the results:

Files still on phone:
"HCSMSIMAgent.plist" located in "Library/MobileSubstrate/DynamicLibraries" (altho disabled)
"com.handcent.messaging.list" in "private/var/lib/dpkg/info"
"com.handcent.messaging.postrm" in "private/var/lib/dpkg/info"

Folders still on phone:
"com.handcent.messaging" in "private/var/mobile/Library/Caches/Snapshots"
"com.handcent.messaging" in "private/var/mobile/Library/Caches"
"com.handcent.messaging" in "private/var/mobile/Library/Caches/com.plausiblelabs.crashreporter.data"
"HandcentSMS" in "private/var/mobile/Library/iFile/Trash/var/mobile/Library"

I'm a bit nervous in deleting these so I dont trash my phone.

I'm not telling you to delete them, but if those files were on my phone I would delete them.

lol. Yeah try deleting them and let me know ;)

Really just goes to show how clunky Handcent is if the devs couldn't even make the uninstall correct.

Nah, I trashed my phone few weeks back also with a sh**y Cydia tweak.
Lost all day trying to get it back working properly (especially getting ios 6.1.2. back on the phone and re-jailbreaking it)
Guess I'll have to live with the blue icon. Messages work as they did before.

Now you know what the app is leaving behind.
If someone decides to give it a shot and delete those files let us all know ;)
