I'd like to have a toolbar button act as a "shift" button, that one can touch with a thumb while touching something else in a different view. In my case, the other view is a UIScrollView. The UIScrollView doesn't respond when one finger is on the button. The scroll view isn't sent the touchesBegan message. Otherwise, touches that start with just one finger on the scroll view work properly. I can also touch numerous buttons on the bar at the same time. I've tried setting various properties such as multipleTouchesEnabled and exclusiveTouch to YES and NO respectively, for the scroll view, the toolbar, and the window. Anybody else run into this problem, or can share some ideas? :) I don't want the user to hit the button repeatedly, or to have to toggle it, when the shift feels more intuitive and easier.
