Handoff never works with Safari?

Hi all. First thread here so bear with me.

I’ve gone through various iterations of iPhone, iPad, watch over the years and handoff has NEVER worked with safari. It works on notes, messages etc, but not safari.

I’ve tried resetting all devices, turning handoff off/on, turning iCloud Drive off/on, signing in and out of iCloud yet still nothing. I’ve recently bought an m1 MBA and same deal. No matter what device I’m on, the others don’t accept a safari handoff

Can anyone offer any help? It’s really frustrating as I’d love to be able to start reading something on safari on the phone for instance and pick it up on the iPad or Mac?

Handoff for safari works, it works so well for me I have to stop using safari when I’m doing sth important that needs iPad and Mac at the same time, otherwise I’d launch safari instead of whatever app I was still using 2s ago.

For anyone reading this in the future, I worked out why safari wasn’t working across handoff - I was using private browsing on all devices…duh..

Switched to regular browsing and it works perfectly. Can’t believe it took me so long to work out..
