I doubt it. I've had the MagSafe wallet for almost a year now, and unlike what the video says, it has never fallen off when putting it in my pocket. Maybe in skinny jeans...
The magsafe wallet is only a few mm thick. This is thicker than your phone plus the wallet. It will easily slide off if you try to stick it in your pocket.

What’s the best alternative to this? Someone mentioned an Anker one? Any links?

I WANT to like it...I really do but it's not happening...not even close.
Just seems like Apple just slapped this together in a week, a 1/2 (another word for buttocks) design. Clumsy bulky white plastic, may fall off if you put it in your pocket like the wallet. Terrible charging ability.

Now will this change in the next 6-12 months...perhaps a slimmer design with more battery power (more color options)?

Well more colors I can clearly see because Apple is all about the darn colors and lets face it, that's simple to add. But Hopefully a better non Beluga whale-like design and far more power. We'll see.

Anker on Amazon.

I've seen these also which are tempting and obviously less expensive - AND with a much larger battery (10000mAh)

Other magsafe - reviews are relatively good for the most part. I guess some received a few duds?
This looks slick, but never heard of Jiga brand

This iWalk seemed kind of cool, Good YouTube review and was in stock...sold out right now.

Woah, woah, woah. Are you crazy??

just kidding. Mine is coming Thursday. Playing the same game as you.
I’m thinking it will be perfect to carry in bag, attach those times when I need a boost to get through the day. Doesn’t happen often, but when I need a boost, I need a boost. I have a 15 W already but it worries me, charging at that speed and heat level

I have a Max Pro, and a little help bubble came up, saying the Mag Bat pack can charge my phone up to 90 percent.

The iWalk one looks nice. I wonder if Apple will release different colours other than the white?

If I were still working (teaching) I could see the value of that. I used to have a device that I could plug into my phone and do the same thing, but not the piggy back. Now I always travel with several chargers, but this has value.

I don't know why anyone picks this over the anker version which is half the cost with a larger battery.
I have the Anker PowerCore Magnetic 5k. It is a great portable charger and more reasonable $ than Apple for magsafe compatible. 19.4 Wh for Anker vs 11.1 Wh for Apple (do not use mAh to compare batteries). I am happy with it.

Few things missing from Anker.

#1. It can not charge iPhone at 15W when connected to charger unlike Apple MagSafe Battery Pack. With Apple MagSafe Battery Pack, you do not need a separate MagSafe cable ($39) to charge your phone at 15W connected to a wall charger. So it is magnetic compatible. Not MagSafe.

#2. No Reverse Charging.

#3. No charging status integration into iPhone widget

I can see some people value above, especially in need of a separate MagSafe cable, and opt for Apple battery.

If you have an iphone mini, this will give you 40% charge. Even worse for the bigger models

Lol just lol, just **** if you dont want me to take you to school. You are probably one of those whose life revolves around social media. Which automatically disqualifies you from having an intelligent response. Now run along and post up a social tweet or something.
