Looking forward to my lacklustre new phone arriving tomorrow.
Trading in my 2017 launch month 8 (the trade in value is MORE than the cost of the replacement battery that it requires) and the total finance cost is 14 bucks a month for 24 months.
I can use my existing case, it serves my needs (and has the all important to me touch ID) and it should last me another five years until it's either painfully slow or no longer supports lots of apps.
No brainer.

3 weeks out of the gate and the Apple detractors are saying the 2022 SE is a failure. No surprise here.

Remember this:

"Yes, our good friends at Nikkei Asia are back with more tales of iPhone production cuts to astonish. Nikkei is the same outfit that four years ago told us Apple was cutting iPhone X production by a whopping 50 percent because it was such a loser. The iPhone X, as you may recall, went on to sell extremely well."

Let's have this conversation at the end of the year when we have the real facts on how well it sold. Until then, it is all nothing but speculation.

I have a 6.5" Motorola right now and it's physically uncomfortable to use since it's nearly as long as my whole fingerspan making me need to rearrange my hand to touch stuff higher up on the screen, I'd love something around 5 inches like the Aristo 2 Plus I had last year. I used it over this one despite having both at the same time because it fit my hands better, and only switched over because it totally died.
And I'm 20, my hands aren't really going to get any bigger. I'd really hate to see the 5" market totally die off.

There are some strong reasons behind the shrinking sales of phones with screens 6-inches and under. Research firm Counterpoint said that the market for such devices has reduced from 81% in 2018 to just under 10% in 2021."

Again, nobody wants small phones.

It is lackluster. That's why Apple has already slashed production and ramped up production of the 13. Nobody wants the lackluster SE.
Thank you for calling me nobody.

Mine is quite good, even if it doesn't meet "everyone's" standards.

It's still better than the 2020 iPhone SE, 8, 7, 6, or 4S that I had previously.

It's also better in many ways to my OnePlus 8T with the huge OLED display and big battery capacity with Android 11.

Even Apple is now realizing that nobody want small phones lmao.

"he recently launched iPhone SE also selling poorly, the writing suddenly appeared on the wall. Donovan describes the situation as Apple coming to realization that small phones have only “limited appeal.” To compensate, Apple has reduced its production of the iPhone SE by 20 million units, and increased its orders for the tallboy iPhone 13."

OUCH!

Not the same thing. The iPhone X got off to a slow start because of the price. At the time it was the only $1K phone and people were reluctant to the price and the radical new design. The SE on the other hand is the same old tired design , cheap in price, and it still doesn't sell. Sales ain't going to miraculously change. It's a failure.

Lackluster is a compound adjective that means what it sounds like: if something is lackluster it lacks luster; in other words, it is without brilliance, shine, or vitality. Think dull

its not lackluster , it has features that the flagship phone does not have like touchID and the Home Button and a better screen size, at least for me. Any larger I would call it iPad Nano. It also comes with a great price point because it does not have the unnecessary cinema production gear on its back. Its a phone with a camera, not a camera that can dial numbers.

One major mistake Apple did imo is they had 0 aesthetic design changes on a model from 2016. If they kept mostly the same but some new designs it would have sold a lot better.. Who knows, maybe by next year they realise this mistake and release SE 23 with a refreshed design

As for orders slashing, they might have over estimated the demands, apple has slashed orders for many of its successful products inc

Look, dude, just buy one, use it, be happy, and live your life. It'll being those all important market share stats up. Nobody's gonna change nobody else's mind here, expecting to get anywhere with this is just asking for frustration.

I found the 5.4 inch of the iphone mini to be too large for single handed device.

Not only is if lackluster, IT"S A FAILURE.

"Kuo predicts that Apple will sell only in 2022 15-20 million copies of the iPhone SE. Although this number does not seem small, it is worth noting that initially the analyst predicted that as many as 25-30 million users would choose the compact model. A drop by even half does not bode well."

This means if Apple makes $100 profit on each phone SE it will make $1.5 Billion in profits in 2022. Please let apple give me this failing business, I will take the loses for them.

So what's your point? I'm an Apple shareholder, but the phone is still lackluster. Do you even realize how stupid that you sound? It's I about the profit margin for the company, who cares about if it comes from the lackluster SE. The discussion is about the SE,not Apple as a company. Then again, when the SE is trash, you have to deflect to something else. Oh and by the way, your math is wrong.

Suuuuuure they do All two of them. I have yet to see somebody buy an SE.....Ever..Maybe the bough it for their children, but not as their daily driver. Not with those poor specs.

My mum has one and a couple of people I know who aren’t into phones with any enthusiasm. The SE is also a good phone for businesses as it’s lower cost than other iPhones so is ideal for sales people etc.

Not sure what is poor about the specs as it’ll do all the main tasks other iPhones do? It has an A15 chip that is very capable and is 5G equipped. Again it goes back to my original point where perhaps only tech snobs look down on this phone and judge it based on their own preferences rather than seeing the bigger picture.

It goes back to this....nobody wants small phones and definitely not a small phone with ancient hardware.

Clearly not ‘nobody’ otherwise the SE wouldn’t sell a single unit let alone the projected 30 million for this year.

The hardware isn’t ‘ancient’ either, it’s a very capable smartphone and will handle all the general tasks iPhones are required to perform. It may look an old phone with its classic design, but in terms of functionality the SE is as powerful as it needs to be to attract consumers who don’t want to spend more than £419 on a smartphone.

It may not be the phone you would personally use, me neither, but it has its market and that is impossible to dispute.

ANCIENT

It’s all opinion at the end of the day and as a product it will appeal to some and not others. Not everybody views smartphones like a tech reviewer would or studies specs like them either. Nothing changes the fact millions of people will buy and enjoy the iPhone SE.

Yup - in my own spehere I have one; two colleagues have them; a friend of mine has one: I (and presumably they) want nothing more than the great camera, home button; iOS, fast chip; small enough phone to use one-handed; reasonable price.

https://www.xda-developers.com/apple-iphone-se-3-review/Really outdated design with thick bezels
  • Battery life won't be able to last all day
  • Lack of ultra-wide or zoom lens limits camera versatility

"In my tests, the iPhone SE took clear and vibrant photos in daylight, but it didn’t do as well in more challenging lighting conditions. In a photo of my dogs on a shaded path, the iPhone SE produced an image with less detail and unnatural colors compared with the $700 iPhone 13 Mini. The iPhone SE camera also lacks the special night mode found on the fancier iPhones for taking photos in the dark. Using flash is always an option, though."

Stop with the buffoonery. The SE's camera is lackluster.
