I ordered this from the Apple store within hours of it being announced and the Apple store indicated that this would be released 11/25...and that is when mine is scheduled to be delivered. How did some get it today?
I ordered mine in the late afternoon it was announced and received it today. Just like the XSmax one, I love it.

Can you access your camera roll when using the camera app on the case? Seems like that could be a security flaw if the case allows access without face unlock.

Dan is somehow annoying. Not sure what it is.

These cases seem largely unnecessary with the insane battery life in iPhone 11.

I find them invaluable in 2 situations:
1) trips. Often I’m awake and using my phone for much longer than a normal ”day” because of time zone changes, air flight, etc. I also find that when I spend the day with them for vacations and use gps tracking apps to tag photos, etc., I can easily use up the 11 max’s battery.

2) swim meets. Very long periods of continuous use between my kid’s heats wears the battery down by the end of the day.

No. Face ID is so fast tho that it will unlock the phone. Heres what you see when you try and access the camera roll

So someone can take your phone and shoot a bunch of photos of their genitalia but won’t be able to view them.

It works the same as taking a photo from the lock screen when the iPhone is locked. When locked, you cannot access the camera roll. When unlocked, you can.

Interesting to read lots saying that how good the battery is on the 11. I have the 11pro and after a full day I’m usually down to 20%. This is with music, perhaps some games. A LOT of WhatsApp etc and an hours commute each way.

Apple makes a thin phone and sells a thick battery pack to make it last longer...maybe just make the phone a bit thicker to accomodate a larger battery and solve the protruding camera lens at the same time. Form > Function

I also think that most people using the iPhone 11 won’t need them, between the comparatively long battery life, specialised use case and price. However, for Apple to keep selling them for a fifth year running (I believe this started with the 6s?), I am going to trust that there are enough people buying them to make this worth their while.

Ultimately, it’s an optional accessory that I am not forced to buy, and I am totally cool with that.

Apple went ahead and changed "Black" in all of their iPhone accessories to what is clearly "Dark Grey", and you're the first guy I've seen mention it. Kudos

It interferes with gestures.
What gestures? You mean the battery case is?

Um, dude, that’s what they just did.

The battery case is for those few who have even more serious battery needs.

An underappreciated benefit of a battery case is that it reduces wear on the lightning port and the original battery, increasing the useable life of your phone.

13 years owning iPhones, and I’ve never experienced nor heard of a “worn out” port.

I think he's talking about people who scratch up the area because they are careless when plugging in their phones.

If this is really the case for someone, that person needs a neurologist, not a battery case.

Does Dan have a glass covering the whole lens square at the end of the video? It looks like a whole piece of glass instead of having the three lenses protruding from the square... Anyone else saw this? I can attach a picture if you don't see it.

EDIT: Here's the mystery shot
Captura de pantalla 2019-11-23 a las 4.12.15.png

As you can see, the camera square is covered by a piece of glass that covers the entire square, and only has a tiny hole for the mic. I don't know why the screenshot is so low quality, but you can watch it for yourselves watching again the video.

Canadian here - in the same seismic zone as California, Oregon and Washington. It would be grand if Apple added an FM receiver to these cases. It would make the iPhone an indispensible "grab and go" device for emergencies. Might also appeal to folks in Tornado Alley and flood-prone areas.

I think it is Form > Function + Accessory = More Money ....works for any Apple accessory

I know it isn’t exactly the same thing but I am still surprised how many people still don’t realize the volume up button behaves similarly at least in once the camera app is launched for taking pictures.

I think it it a cool feature for snapping very quick pictures but I wonder how many people are going to end up with pictures of the insides of their pockets.
