Wow. That is... Something.I ask the very same question when iOS10 beta was first released, hoping that it would mean we can make Google maps (or any other mapping app) the default, unfortunately early beta testers said it just asked them if they want to re-install Apple maps.
No. Many of us have used the others and are forced to use Apple Maps.
fixed that for you.
When someone clicks an address in an imessage or email it will open in Apple maps, when someone uses Siri to get directions, it opens in Apple Maps. No default apps cause then Apple can't force people to use Apple Maps.
They're saving the foulest swamps for last.Oh and my road still isn't on it even though I've lived there over 10 years
But does Apple Maps do this while you are driving as well?
It's the 'dynamic rerouting' that Waze does so well (and that Google also incorporated some time ago) that was sorely lacking in Apple maps.
I never had Apple maps telling me, while driving: 'a traffic jam suddenly appeared, here's another, faster alternative.'
Has this changed?
"Go Apple"??? What a strange post.
Is this a sporting event? Do you have some emotional attachmnet to a multi billion dollar corporation who cares nothing about you?

And Apple doesn't provide copy and paste or anyth8ng for you to use with any other maps, right? And you have to use Siri, right? Apple doesn't force you to use their mapping solution.
Hope this changes.

It does. If you had the option of installing and defaulting any map app when you set your device up, I really wonder how many would stick with Apple Maps. There would be a likely significant migration away from AM.
Or maybe AM is a good enough solution for most?
Nah, that doesn't fit into your narrative.
Hope this changes.

It could be good enough. If Apple hadn't made it the defect default I highly suspect it would have died long ago.
My narrative is very simple / basic: If it isn't better/safer why would I use it?![]()
I have the option to switch to Waze or google maps… but Apple Maps works perfectly well for my needs so I gladly use it without reservations. My directions and navigation are always correct, and with the new "avoid tolls and highway" feature coming in ios10, I'll be pretty much set. Those were only two things I needed. For multiple destination, I use inRoute app, until apple builds in multi destination stops or InRoute have better app extension sharing with Apple Maps. I don't do multiple stops enough for this to be an issue.
Good question. If it isn't good for you, the App Store has google maps.
When 10 comes out I will give it another try. Be interesting to see how it has improved.

and I use it. Tried Waze however I found it not as good as GM when I travel.
Nope its because people are lazy and don't want to bother looking in the App store for a better app that can't integrate with iOS due to Apples rules

Does Apple Maps have Junction numbers included on Motorways in the UK yet? That's still a huge omission if not.
