Auto hiding chrome in UI is really really bad. Its time consuming and confusing. The idea of making UI disappear in order to consume content is flawed by design, from a guy that knows nothing about software GUI/UX.

I ask the very same question when iOS10 beta was first released, hoping that it would mean we can make Google maps (or any other mapping app) the default, unfortunately early beta testers said it just asked them if they want to re-install Apple maps.
Wow. That is... Something.

No. Many of us have used the others and are forced to use Apple Maps.

fixed that for you.

When someone clicks an address in an imessage or email it will open in Apple maps, when someone uses Siri to get directions, it opens in Apple Maps. No default apps cause then Apple can't force people to use Apple Maps.

And Apple doesn't provide copy and paste or anyth8ng for you to use with any other maps, right? And you have to use Siri, right? Apple doesn't force you to use their mapping solution.

Shame that they don't add a draw feature or import export geographic data (same way that google earth does).

Looking awesome to me... my favorite new feature is the simple thing to look ahead on your route... it's always been frustrating why you couldn't control the map view more while in-route. I like to know what's coming so I'm prepared and the overview is usually too general. Can't wait for this update.

I would like to see a way for users to make improvements and suggestions to Apple maps. There's a lot of one ways that are wrong in my city of Baltimore.

But does Apple Maps do this while you are driving as well?

It's the 'dynamic rerouting' that Waze does so well (and that Google also incorporated some time ago) that was sorely lacking in Apple maps.

I never had Apple maps telling me, while driving: 'a traffic jam suddenly appeared, here's another, faster alternative.'

Has this changed?

Yes. This dynamic routing have been a feature of Apple maps for some time now. It says something like "there is traffic jam ahead" here is an alternate route that can save you 10 minutes during your commute, then it offers the route. The user can accept it or stay the course of the current route.

"Go Apple"??? What a strange post.

Is this a sporting event? Do you have some emotional attachmnet to a multi billion dollar corporation who cares nothing about you?

Lol. No emotional connection, just having fun supporting the advancement of all technologies in my iOS devices. So they more they add and improve upon, the better I will enjoying using my purchased items or service. Go team go! Update updates update! Yeah. Cheers. Lol.

It does. If you had the option of installing and defaulting any map app when you set your device up, I really wonder how many would stick with Apple Maps. There would be a likely significant migration away from AM.

Or maybe AM is a good enough solution for most?

Nah, that doesn't fit into your narrative.

I have the option to switch to Waze or google maps… but Apple Maps works perfectly well for my needs so I gladly use it without reservations. My directions and navigation are always correct, and with the new "avoid tolls and highway" feature coming in ios10, I'll be pretty much set. Those were only two things I needed. For multiple destination, I use inRoute app, until apple builds in multi destination stops or InRoute have better app extension sharing with Apple Maps. I don't do multiple stops enough for this to be an issue.

It could be good enough. If Apple hadn't made it the defect default I highly suspect it would have died long ago.
My narrative is very simple / basic: If it isn't better/safer why would I use it? ;)

Good question. If it isn't good for you, the App Store has google maps.

When 10 comes out I will give it another try. Be interesting to see how it has improved.

and I use it. Tried Waze however I found it not as good as GM when I travel.

Yeah. Waze was good but now it's horrible but it's have inertia and nostalgia going for it, so people thinks it's good. Kinda like the uber factor, where Lyft is better but all people think is uber. Lol

Nope its because people are lazy and don't want to bother looking in the App store for a better app that can't integrate with iOS due to Apples rules

Oh and my road still isn't on it even though I've lived there over 10 years

People lazy to report errors too :)

Nope I've used other apps. I've stuck with Apple maps. You're point? Invalidated.

Does Apple Maps have Junction numbers included on Motorways in the UK yet? That's still a huge omission if not.
