It feels like iOS and iPadOS 15 are finished versions of 14 which is fine. I think that all the devices which were capable of running 14 can run 15 supports this. Like it wasn't a low level re-write, but a lot of fixing and expanding on the foundation.
I think that that is a very good summary of what Apple may have been going for.

Focus modes, like my Blackberry had a decade or so ago, @ 4:17 of the video, glad to finally get that. Loved that feature on my BB (and other android phones I've had). Thanks Apple 🤷‍♂️

I think you are alone. It is one thing to say you don't care for the new design which is fair. it is quite another to suggest that rounded corners make the display look kiddie and patronizing. There is nothing kiddie about round corners. You did a lot of bad projecting.
Wow thats pretty heavy for a difference in stylistic opinion.

Lots of good improvements. Nothing super big but definitely quality of life stuff. I’m excited!
Nothing big, most of the new features had been available in other apps. Like the new features for FaceTime is to adopt those already in MS team, Zoom. Live text and Look Up are following google lens, AR text direction, camera around to let Map relocate better are two experimental features from Google Map.

The new Tagging and Mention in Reminders are there in Google Keep for long. (I used to Keep extensively before switching to IP, Keep is nice but the super slow syncing is an issue)

the most welcome is the touch up to allow the deletion of completed task in Reminder.

anyway, Apple is actually not good at innovation rather they excel in integration.

Been using swipe for tabs button on brave browser for a while. Really fast.
looking forward to photo management.

With Focus mode, can you customise per app?
For instance, during bed time, I want every app to be silenced except for 1 unique app that I "allow" to wake me up. Is that possible to achieve?
That’s exactly what focus mode is. For different focus modes, you can select which contacts and apps can send notifications. The only thing is there is no setting to allow everyone (even those not in contacts). For example, during my personal focus mode, I would like to allow notifications from anyone but from specific apps only. The former is not possible right now. I have raised it as a suggestion in the feedback app. Hope they allow this.

I was really hoping for better multi tasking. Split screen stuff is only one part of it. I was hoping to have better background capabilities. Nice to be able to switch between apps without losing video in a call for example.
Didn't they already do that in iOS 14.5?

Stereo Head Tracking Spatial audio is system wide, Spotify, YouTube, Netflix, anything. Not sure why this feature isn’t in iOS 14. People would’ve been incredibly happy if this is what we got with the update. Not Atmos though. It sounds fantastic IMO and this is a massive game changer for those who appreciated Spatial Audio with the movies and content we got it with.

Honestly sounds better, louder, and fuller than Atmos Spatial right now. The Spatial audio support we got in yesterdays update is barebones compared to what it is in iOS15.
well, you are getting it in an update. it is already announced.

Don’t get your hopes up with faster “on-device Siri” if you have an iPhone X, it requires A12 Bionic or higher 😔

I have seen that iPadOS will allow us to place widgets and icons anywhere… is this also going to be true for iOS? Are we finally going to be allowed to place icons and widgets wherever we want?!

Maybe I'm alone, but I can't help but think that the progressive rounding of practically everything "kid-ifies" the OS and makes it feel almost patronizing. I believe there's a balance between sharp corners and so round that it looks like an OS for a toddler. Apple, it seems, has ventured now into the realm of "too round". Thoughts?
Absolutely. They’ve been taking baby steps (ha!) in that direction for years, but this year was a leap. Maps now looks like something you’d see on a preschool wall.

Thanks for explaining.

When you say "which contacts can send notifications". Is this restricted to phone notifications and SMS/iMessage, i.e. Apple apps? Because I can't see how iOS could only allow notification from a specific contact within Signal, WhatsApp, etc.

It could in future. There is a section where you can ‘control which apps can access your focus status’. Currently, I see only messages app listed (on my WiFi-only iPad) and not even FaceTime, which is weird. When and if Signal and WhatsApp start supporting this, you would be able to control notifications from then too. I have been testing different focus settings for the last 2 days and it is quite nice not to receive Outlook and Teams notifications during my personal focus times. Only thing I am not happy is that there is no way to allow calls from everyone (including those not in my contacts).

The maps look so rich and amazing. The details are crazy!!! Can it be September already?
Who’d have that tha5 a dir3ctire with accessibility needs fully understands how mobility is neended by the rest of us & benefits everyone from all these improvements.
im not feeling the need to use AR to point me in the right direction in text on the map could’ve been much more private & simple.

disembark at Yonge street,
turn right on Dundas to walk east to BestBuy.
(Note directions should be sensitive to heading direction. In examole above in Toronto ON, Yonge Strret is North/South so heading south on bus turning right is heading West. Headin North on Yonge street turning right is heading East.
holding up my phone to highlight streets shows anyone beside me at a busy intersection or walking but where I’m going. Not too private. Also this doesn’t work on Watch or iOS with iPhone in your pocket when using audible directions. If Apple thought of this they didn’t say anything in the keynote.

I think that's reading way too much into it. Lots of things have rounded corners. I just passed a million signs with rounded corners driving on the interstate.
