apple software has been nothing but hot garbage over the last few years. HOT GARBAGE.

iOS and Mac OS have been going downhill for a long time. back to linux for me.

If this was true people wouldn’t flog to buying iPhones. Software is why I would struggle to buy another android phone as my main phone again. The experience just is far worse for me than on iPhones

Okay, coming back to this. The thing I find strange as hell is that the ultrawide camera has the lowest pixel-count sensor. If they had put the 108 megapixel sensor on the ultrawide, it could have done "zoom by cropping" and gotten 9x zoom - making the mid-wide lens irrelevant. Hell, they could have then thrown a narrower zoom on the folded-optic zoom lens, letting it *START* at 4x zoom instead of starting at 2x, and doubling its high-end range.

As I have been trying to explain many times, it’s not just the software and services in a vacuum, but how they all come together.

Take the Apple Watch for instance. Everything about it has been customised. From the processor, to the W1 chip, to the e-sim, to the OS running on it. Apple even controls the services running on it. They can optimise Siri for music playback. They control Apple Music. They own maps, which is a good thing, because google hasn’t bothered supporting maps for the watch. Even something as simply as unlocking your Mac with your watch is made possible because Apple owns both platforms.

This gives Apple a great deal of flexibility in controlling the end user experience they want users to have, because they own all the underlying technologies, and aren’t at the mercy or whims of third-parties.

It also means that Apple’s software doesn’t need to be the absolute best there is. They just need to come together to offer the best user experience for the consumer.

This is what I have been trying to explain many times....

they all integrate together , however that integration does not work well most of the times.

Messages , never syncs properly , missing messages , have to reconfiguring text forwarding.
apple watch both v4 and my v5 , notifications are sporadic , tracking works decent , hangs on mail screen all the time.
Mac OS , full of problems , boots slow , has graphic glitches in weird places (boot screens ) , my work MacBook Pro which has been replaced 3 times because it goes to a black screen and will not wake. at least 5 others at my work have this issue. (could be hardware or software related)

those are just some of those issues. almost as if QA was never really done on the software at all to work with the hardware.

this is on 1.5gbit internet and across several Macs , MacBook Pro 2018 , Mac mini 2018 and a Mac Pro at work.

ill continue to stay in the linux world , at least I can fix problems easily myself.

People do flog to buy iPhones. Go look at the sales for 2019. The only android phones in sight is budget devices.

We are talking flagships you know the ones worth buying.

iPhones destroy the market in sales still and it’s going going to increase when 5G iPhones are out.

Nobody buys android flagships as the experience is just not worth it for 1k

ummm no....

look at flagship sales for Huawei , one plus , Samsung , red , lg , pixel. add those up , over double apple's WHOLE iPhone sales.

Again look at the flagship sales

S10 and note 10 wasn’t even on the rankings for sales. Apple dominated the sales market. A 2019 XR was the best selling phone in 2019.... why you mentioning the pixel? It had god awful sales...

Total sales is irrelevant as android sells a huge amount of different phones. Apple sells iPhones. Individual sales is what matters as these Samsung flagships do not sell and likely never will...what sales is low budget phones.

One plus sells well as they price it correctly. It’s a great phone for the price

This doesn’t make much sense. Add up the sales from multiple manufacturers and they may exceed the sales from one manufacturer?

.
For you, in your opinion.

Umm look at the actual data https://www.counterpointresearch.com/iphone-11-second-best-selling-phone-2019-less-four-months/

Where EXACTLY there is Samsung, Huawei, Pixel, LG or any flagship there?

I see the 11 pro max and XS Max in the top 10 and NO OTHER flagships. A few mid range Samsungs and an Oppo. The rest all iPhones.

The ONLY instance of a flagship I see is in the specific country data with 2% P30 in China. Congrats, one county 1 phone beat an iPhone. Yayyyyyy.

Love when people make up facts. Buh buh Andrwoids make up more den Apples!!! Ya no crap when you have 50 Android manufacturers and 1 iPhone manufacturer, who woulda thunk it! That's like saying the Big 3 produce more cars then Telsa; no durrrr.

I'm not really sure Counterpoint's estimations are entirely accurate.
For example the P30 Pro sold 16.5 million units by September 2019. So it should be more than 1% marker share for the entire 2019. Also I believe it's impossible that Samsung didn't sell enough units of one of it's S10 models to make it in that chart. Note 10 also should have sold around 10 milion units.
I'm sure that if Counterpoint's estimations wouldn't be entirely positive towards Apple their accuracy would be challenged immediately.

The S10 Series has probably sold 40-50 million combined and the note around 10 million. Obviously not anywhere near as much as the iphone 11 series but a reasonable amount. Huawei probably sold about 20 million of the P30 pro, most of those sales are probably from China though.

The M series probably outsold the S series last year. Samsung improved the quality of their midrange devices significantly last year and it went down well in places like India where they had previously been loosing sales to the likes of one plus and Oppo. However having said that I’m sure the S10 series sold about 40-50 million combined which is nothing to be sniffed at.

Remind you, this is not a phone. Its a micro pocket pc, internet communicator, music player, storage device and high quality camera. It also happens to having calling features and function as a phone.

It's a phone. It does nothing an android phone worth 200 usd does not.
[automerge]1584087085[/automerge]
no laptop should be worth 4000$

no desktop should be worth 6000$

no wheels should cost 400$
Okay..?

I’m sure the Pro Max is better than the XR in terms of build and screen. But I’ve been messing around with S20 Ultra and it blows them away (IMO) in terms of display. I used the Max Pro a bit and the display is nice, but not better than the S20, again IMO.

Some of the gestures are odd, but probably because I’ve been on iPhones since the 3G. Aside from that, I can use Samsung or Google Play anywhere and it’s solid. Tap the NFC payment and done. I don’t need to have Apple Wallet out or anything.

I do think the IOS apps are better quality, but Androids aren’t horrible. If stock Android were on the S20, I’d never go back to Apple...

Okay..?
Show me an android phone for $200 that has a wide angle camera, 120Hz display, in display FPS, 10x optical zoom, reverse wireless charging, has the same quality display?

Last time I checked, neither of those functions made my calls more clear, battery last longer, programs load faster. What you are describing or things, people that don't know how to bring a cable or a proper DSLR camera. If those are selling points, then that's on your financial situation, not the phone you ended up buying.

EDIT:
Just saw your description. Your buy-in bias makes this conversation irrelevant.

What is my buy-in bias?

The same can be said about an iPhone. Nobody needs the most expensive iPhone. If they have a preference for iOS an SE or an iPhone 7 or 8 would suffice.

I just really don't care about call quality at all.

As for battery and speed: pricier higher-end phones are indeed likely to do better on those counts.

What you are describing or things, people that don't know how to bring a cable or a proper DSLR camera.

My phone's camera is "proper" just fine.

People have different criteria, priorities, preferences. A $200 phone will not fulfill everyone's.

If this was an iPhone with the normal less spec but priced the same, everyone would be defending it and the price. I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max atm, simply because it integrates with my hearing aids better, if it didn't, I would have the better Samsung phone. It seems to me that many people criticising, just by their comments, simply havent used an up to date flagship Samsung phone, they're fabulous. My iPhone isn't that bad either.

All android flagships are great phones. Hardware wise they are great and has some stuff I wish iPhones had but the software is why many can’t stick it with long term. I also don’t like how apps look on android for me they look worse and just blown up versions of IOS.

What logic exactly are you trying to understand? When I had the S10 plus the app quality bothered me coming from IOS. It felt worse and was an adjustment from what I was used to. Nothing more that needs saying really
I suppose I have a different uderstanding of "blown up versions". To me that means "larger" i.e. Screen size. So basically just the same, but bigger.
