I am reluctant to buy a Vision Pro until Apple allows for some professional use cases that imo should've been available on day one, as they are no-brainers.

The most important use case is to display multiple Mac monitors & deskop spaces simultaneously, indeed even from different Macs. And this should be able to happen in the natural environment without blacking out the physical Mac displays, so that we can create floating displays to augment the work environment while still being able to see regular monitors. Individual Mac apps should also be able to break out into multiple individual windows.

Furthermore, give the users the ability to use a mouse for Vision Pro apps, virtual Mac displays, and physical Mac displays, with transfer in the style of Universal Control, which already works like that. Since Trackpads are supported, Bluetooth mice should be as well. Browsing the web, and actually doing things, has to be faster with a mouse and robust scroll weel, than it is to "look" at elements and somewhat "graciously" perform finger movements. Real web apps today rely on things like Shift + clicking, keyboard shortcuts, etc (though I suppose some of that can be done with gestures).

In the future, I hope the Vision Pro will more supportive of moving in different rooms, for example allowing me to move to the kitchen, and having an augmented shopping list permanently placed on the fridge (theoretical example). It seems the AR features are a bit underdeveloped currently, as are probably the VR features.

Personal opinion, so take with a grain of salt.

I think unboxing videos are a cry for attention. “Please recognize me as I have nothing to say of importance in real life.” They are also free unpaid advertising to product manufacturers. If Apple created the video I can understand it but for some random person to make a totally useless video about a product that would be unboxed at home seems like a waste of time to me.

Again, just my opinion.

Ouch, just a few minutes with it and all those marks on your nose.
I wonder about marks on eyes. In reality your eyes see the picture from very up close. I'm super interested in people's vision after a year of using Apple Vision Pro.

My packages just arrived. I am sending one back immediately because I ordered two sizes. I tried cancelling the one order a week ago, but they weren't able to cancel it then. Looking forward to a fun evening!

Nice rug! Persian?

I‘m still very much in two minds about the Vision Pro, after seeing the review and first impressions coverage. I don’t use multiple displays, so the whole ”workspaces throughout the home” angle doesn’t work for me. I like to go sit behind my Mac when I write. And I watch minimal amounts of TV, mostly streamed while alone on my Mac, so I doubt whether I would use the device much for that.

That said, the Vision Pro is cool, and it sounds like a nice toy to have.

I don't like how high it sits on my face. When I tighten the band, all of the pressure seems to be on my eyebrow area, and not below my eyes. It's putting an unusual strain against my head so far. But it is the first day.

Also for the first day, upon trying out fruit ninja, the tracking for the cutting seems to be quite off. Unless it needs a ton of light?

I have also attached a screenshot of a glitch while playing fruit ninja which made me end up stopping.

Lets see what 2.0 brings at WWDC

The video was awesome, the mister on it deserves on Oscar! So much fun and genuine, except the “it’s worth the money” because everyone has a different disposable income.

I’m quite interested and definitely see the potential. Remember all the issues that the first iPhone had that was solved along the way. Yes the hype was bigger then, but the iPhone was groundbreaking. Vision Pro is not the same revolution to the AR/VR space, but the potential is huge. I’m certain that in a few iterations we will all see the true value and as price will decrease, and features refines, this will be as huge as the iPhone. That’s my prediction - looking forward to repost this in 10 years in full glory… 😅

Thank you for this. But I don’t quite understand why you can’t see the popcorn or glass.
When you are using one of the environment settings while watching Appletv, it replaces reality with the image of the environment. You can see your hands, but nothing else.

If this is like the Original in-box iPhone last year that sold for 400x original price, this thing will be worth $1.4 million in 16 years.

Will it actually? Probably not. But it's fun to think about. These things will be even more rare since it's projected there will only be about 450K units available this year, vs. about 5 million for the original iPhone. However, I think there are far more collectors today because of what the iPhone is now selling for. At a minimum, I still see it probably 5-10x-ing in that time. So not the worst investment out there.
Which’s translates to about $17 dollars with inflation.

Put a 4k video recording capability of anything you look at with stereo sound just like they have 4k car visor cams for recording the road and accidents and then I might buy one and think its worth $3500.

It has to have 1TB SSD. not super small 256gb. and an option to plug in an external drive for storage. like a Lacie rugged drive.

Thanks Dan. Always enjoyable to watch you. You have a really engaging way of presenting. Have fun with the Vision Pro.

Thanks!

Always interesting to see new technology… shows promise to be amazing… one day.

Hopefully you'll do follow ups with day to day productivity work flow.

I did feel bad for your poor nose though and you definitely look really tired after this session. But maybe you were up all night and couldn't sleep with excitement? 🙂

Can you project a screen of a desktop Mac? I have heard reports that it works with just MacBooks. If it works with desktops, does it work with headless desktops?

I just can't get over how red his face and nose are after wearing it for a bit. I was hoping the technology would have been better than the Quest lineup, which I am intimately familiar with, but never got used to the messed up hair, red face, and headaches. I will still posit that this won't be a success until they resolve the ergonomic issues.

I did a tryout at the Apple Store. In the first 60 seconds of wearing the thing, I was frightened because I was very uncomfortable. After a few minutes, I was totally comfortable. It went from strange and alien, to "where have you been all my life." I have my Vision Pro, but my lenses aren't arriving until early this week (ZEISS and Apple both made mistakes involving my prescription). I'm going to use the Solo Band, because just like with my MBP, I tend walk away from my screen 2-3 times an hour. I do not anticipate wearing for more than 30 minutes at a time, so after trying the dual band, I suspect it will gather dust in the box. I got the travel case, not for travel, but because it looks like the best way to store it.

Can the device be plugged into the wall and run forever and not off of the battery?
No. You plug the USB-C cable from the wall charger into the battery, charging the battery and powering the AVP at the same time. The USB-C cable port in the battery is next to the cable coming out of the battery, so you can slip it in your pocket and both cables are sticking out in the same direction. Very clever, that.
