Before handsfree, talking to yourself was something only the crazy did.

Now we'll have people talking into their wrists. Soon we're going to be all Dick Tracy and have Watch Facetime at 10 fps.

I can't wait for FaceTime on this lol. I want to go full on Dick Tracy!

For the prices suggested I'd rather buy (If I were rich) Rolex!

Why would you buy a rolex? For the name or appreciation?

Rolex watches are way overrated and most of them actually are extremely ugly and badly designed.

Personally I would never wear a Rolex.

The entire watch idea is all about Tim getting from out from under Steve Job's shadow, and living up to "World's Greatest Leader" Kim Jong Tim. Limited supply is Apple hedging it's bets on what could become the biggest collection of dresser drawer-ware than anyone has ever seen.

Rolex has long been controversial within haute horology circles. For people who normally don't buy dress watches, the Rolex brand is synonymous with high-end, but many watch geeks consider this naive. I also find the design of most Rolexes ugly, and if I were looking for something in the same price range, my first choice would be something from IWC.

For the purpose of discussion in tech enthusiasts' forums, it's better to treat "Rolex" as a proxy for dress watches than the benchmark for quality and status.

What was the killer app when Steve first showed off the iPhone? Safari?

Safari...and itunes. iPhone meant my phone was a browser, video player and music player. Camera and game functionality would later become as important.

Agreed. This is a statement product that is being released at least one year prematurely. The high end lux pretensions will erode apple core brand strength. Its a huge mistep

I couldn't disagree more. Why judge before it's even been released? If u don't want it fine but there's obviously a market for it. It doesn't have to be an iPhone like hit.

All those little fluff elements add up to provide OS X with a much better experience for pretty much everything outside of hardcore gaming, I find.

"All those little fluff elements...". You've captured the essence of osx design!

Question: what do expect to learn about the watch post release that you dont know now from 2 apple keynotes and related coverage?

"Handoff works very well, letting users transfer tasks from the Apple Watch to the iPhone with ease,"

Do we know yet if we can do handoff from the Apple Watch to a Mac? Say for example, reading an email on the watch, and deciding to handoff directly to a Mac.

If you don't have an iWatch then you won't need to bother transferring tasks to your iPhone. I just saved a ton of useless to asks

I would have to agree with that idea of Tim getting out of his shadow trying to prove himself as visionary. If the watch doesn't perform well sales or market in the eyes of the shareholders, Cook could go out the window.

The pricing of the watch and fashion direction could alienate and divide the consumer demographic. One wonders if Apple is for the 99 percent or the 1 percent.

Question to the developer : any rattling buttons or plopping screens on this Apple device? Wondering what the list of defects will be this time and what Apple's excuses will be. Straps discoloring or coming loose. You're wearing it wrong! They can't come up with 'it's cosmetic' this time.

You're right ... they probably can't because cosmetical isn't a word. ;)

I think you're jumping the gun a bit. We should just wait and see.

The latest one in March.

You are right that there was wild enthusiasm for it in Sept., but the lack of enthusiasm in March could be that the novelty factor wasn't there or maybe indifference after months of reflection. I don't know. I am kinda neutral on it like I was with the iPad. I tried two iPads but ended up returning them as I just preferred my laptops instead.

iPhone didn't get a wild reception at 2007 WWDC either. Especially not when the little stage time it got was dedicated to web apps.

There is no killer function. Just a killer feature. Continuity and UE.

you will still need a killer function for the mass public to buy one at that price.

comparing its size to the other brands is something that only matters to those that actually want/need one.

admittedly the threshold is lower when its less monstrous.

Yep. But how much are you willing to spend not to take your phone out of your purse or pocket a few times a day? There is zero buzz about this product out there in the real world. They have had almost a year to make these things, but I expect apple to seriously fake a constrained supply to have images of people lined up for a few days to create a buzz. But I would lay out money by May 1st you will be able to do a walk-in and get almost any non-10K version you want.

This is a stupid question. If you havent the slightest clue what can be learned from actually using a device and how it can benefit you as an individual then you are either unimaginative, ignorant, or a troll.

Man the hate is strong for this product lol. Tim out the door because of the watch? Lol that's laughable

Surely rowespaxe intended that as a satirical/joking question. I can't believe any educated person would seriously pose it. Could they?

Since when is $349 for the 1%? Was Apple's 1st MacBook Air at $1799 for the 99%?

you have forgotten the more philosophical Steve wouldn't want it, apple is not the same as it used to be, who would wear a watch in 2015 etc.

You missed the sarcasm. The doomsayers are those who never worn the watch. Or did I miss yours? :D

The hate is from those people who can't afford the watch ( and I don't mean in terms of financial only )

Trust me, once you used the watch it would be an instant love. I knew.
