I noticed on my Mac It had my Apple Watch as an option as well as my old one still. I had to select the new Apple Watch as well so it would unlock my mac. If you go into settings on mac and then security tab it will be there.
I tried that, but it still told me my Mac software needed to be upgraded. I’ll give it another try tonite

All that does is test if the mineral is present in the glass. It doesn't indicate if it is all sapphire or just flakes mixed into the glass.
That's not how it works. These look at thermal conductance, not for the presence of minerals (corundum) in a groundmass of other minerals (glass (SiO2).
In the case of Apple, ALL of their watches (save for the solid gold variant, I think) have all been nothing more than flakes of sapphire mixed into the glass.
Source? After a fair amount of searching the conclusion that I get is that the watch face is indeed full, shaped, sapphire. I could not find any conclusions that support your assertions. That video you posted comes up as about the only thing that suggests a laminated or occluded product and seems to be the go to source for anyone suggesting lack of integrity in product marketing. Notably missing are the links to the more common tests and statements that indicate the opposite.

The scratch resistance is the same as regular glass when tested on the Mohs hardness scale.
Yes, and in this test, which is much more rigorous, IMHO, indicates just that

which references

Apple Watch Sport was unscathed by a 7-rated pick, but was scratched by an 8. The higher-end Apple Watch which used sapphire crystal was able to withstand a beating from a 9-rated pick

Honestly, I can only imagine that Apple doesn't use a real sapphire display because the rounded edges cost to much compared to a flat round display, like on a Tissot watch?
Source? I am not going down that rabbit hole, but a brief search suggests that A) yes, it is sapphire and B) Shaping sapphire is not that big of a deal or some arcane or costly process and C) A lot of Tissot watches cost less than the Apple Watch. We're not talking Patek Phillipe or even Rolex here. I doubt Tissot is spending that much more on their crystals for exotic machining or materials. Doesn't seem to be room in the margins for that.

If you have something more substantial than YouTube vids, please by all means, post it up. I'm keen to learn more. But from what has been offered so far, I don't give much credence to your assertions.

Got mine on Friday, 44mm stainless LTE. It's my first Apple Watch and the one I've been waiting for... a big enough screen that my 53 year old eyes can SEE! This thing is GREAT. LTE is very nice to have, I already left home twice without my phone, without thinking about it. On that note - went to bed last night with 66% battery remaining, despite being 'untethered' for over 2 hours - i.e. using cellular and a good amount of playing with it through the day. VERY USEABLE.

I'm a skinny dude but the 44mm looks fine. I do have the Milanese loop pretty much fully wrapped but it's just dandy. Anyone slagging off this product... hasn't got one.

Well, it’s slightly less thick than the Series 2/3 (0.7mm), but still thicker than the Series 0-1.

I’ll have to look at them side by side, but the crystal looks the same on both from the profile photos I’ve seen.

I wonder if the depth number is the depth at the center of the sensor. I could try to dig out my Series 0 (which I really should have gotten around to selling). The glass seems to bulge out more than the 3 though.

That's interesting, I always just assumed the bands for the sizes were not interchangeable. Seems I am in for a visit to an Apple Store one way or another.

Not lock in really, but I do have a bunch of them, including the expensive Milanese Loop, which I like, and don't want to rebuy.

My SO bought me a Milanese Loop and I also like it and wear it. It was a nice present so I'm really glad that I can still use it on the 4. But I'm not surprised that it fits. I think this design and size has been worked out from the beginning and the band connection was designed to allow it to work with larger watches.

I'm finding I get less irritated with the new watch and don't find myself taking it off quite as early in the evening. 316L stainless steel is about 8-10% nickel, which I've developed an allergy/sensitivity (technically, contact dermatitis) to. Previously, the metal part of the case that surrounds the sensors would contact my skin. Now, all of that is ceramic.

Apple didn't brag about that in their presentation, but I wouldn't be surprised to eventually find out that designers did consider that a nice side effect of switching to ceramic for better reception.

Well I was done with the Milanese loop after like 1 hour, and back to my old sport band.

I wouldn't have had any hair left on my arm, and it even managed to pull hair out of the other arm at one point. Too bad I can't just swap bands instead of ordering another watch with the cheaper band, but want that $100 back.

Honest question: Has any of you noticed or heard if the Watch 4 glass face is less durable than the series 3?

I swear to you, despite caring for it like it's a soap bubble, my month-old 4 has more micro-scratches on its face than a 3 that's been through a year of workouts and accidental contact with things. Both aluminium models.

I'm concerned that part of the Watch's radical redesign was gimping the material quality to cut costs. Wouldn't be the first time Apple did that :(

I hope not. I have series 0 which I have been quite rough with that just now starting to look kind of scratchy. I have use it working out and working in the yard. I am looking to get a series 4

Nothing on mine. Use it during off road cycling in all weathers, with mud and a few falls.

I have a office based job, so nothing too taxing most of the time, but when not at work I don’t treat it with any particular kindness and it’s unmarked.

Do you also have the aluminium version? I just put it on and off and charge. I also have a desk job and in the last month I wasn't even able to do any rigorous workouts because of the workload. So I'm totally baffled as to how it manage to scratch so easily already :(
