So you compared the size to the HomePod mini.. what about the sound quality? I get they’re not directly comparable because the HomePod mini isn’t portable (technically), but what is the sound difference?
Exactly, there was no comment that I was aware of regarding sound quality. Basically reading a generic script.

Sonos house here (7 rooms), including a Move in the master bathroom - and a trusty Bose Soundlink Mini in the garage.

It’s a shame that you can’t use these as surround speakers with one of their soundbars (that seems like a marketing miss and not a technical issue). I would rather buy a package with two of these + charging docks than buy a pair of Ones...

Sonos is hands down the best multi room audio system in the industry. If you haven’t got on board I’d highly recommend you do so.
From an equipment manufacturer standpoint, maybe. But if you're looking for multi room sound, I suggest trying Roon. Certainly Roon, as a software product, is in another league. But what Roon brings to the table is it is hardware agnostic. There are scores of high-end audio makers that have certifiied their products as Roon Ready. As such, you can mix and match systems in a way that suits your tastes and at a level of sound quality that Sonos can't begin to match. Serious audiophiles won't touch Sonos with a ten-foot pole, but most of them use Roon. Roon is the gold standard.

This isn't a new or unique thought, and it's not going to change anything, but I'm sharing it anyway:

I super duper hate these ridiculous YouTube thumbnail formats with grown ups making shocked faces.

EDIT: lol, they updated the thumbnail image to be slightly less doofy than the original.
Not to mention those rediculous titles. "Mind Blowing Sound." Whenever I see titles like I never play them. What they're saying right off the bat is whatever your about to watch is stupid. But just once, I would like to see someone's brains blow up during the video. That for sure will get lots of hits.

Still a lot of love for Sonos here.....which is fine of course.

Personally, I'm in the process of moving away from it. There are a few reasons for this, but the main one to push me into action is that the music just constantly jumps....I'll be listening to the radio and it will suddenly jump back 5 seconds. Then it will do it again. Or streaming from Apple Music, jumps. Or will play on one speaker but won't allow me to bring in another speaker. Seems to be getting more buggy all the time.

Only happens on Sonos, and the same thing happens to my mate with his system. So blooming annoying....will happen every single morning I use it.

Great to see positive feedback from the MR dude on the new Sonos speaker. I’ve already got 3 moves so can’t really justify any more Sonos for the time being, but the Roam looks like a great addition to the range and a lot more practical than the Move which is too big and heavy to be anything but luggable around the home or whilst out on a road trip, the Roam looks so much more compact and suited to mobility and travel.

I have a pair of Play 1’s in my lounge, and 5 other Play 1’s/One’s in other rooms. Sonos really is awesome, especially when paired with Alexa. Will be grabbing this little speaker when it drops.

I take issue with all of these reviews. The reviewers clearly have no idea what “fantastic” sound quality sounds like because they have been conditioned to listening to poor quality compressed music through limited capacity speakers. The sound might be acceptable for the size and price but I guarantee it’s not fantastic.

Given the release date, I'm saddened there's no Forest Green option. Joking aside, I love my PLAYBAR and have had zero issues in the past 4 years I've owned it.

Is it just me or is bordering on bizarre that Sonos speakers fully support Airplay 2 whereas Big Sur
still does not? We are waiting with bated breath to see if the next Big Sur update gets it right just in time for the original Homepod to be discontinued. I still can't output Netflix movies on my brand new Macbook to my stereo pair of Homepods and I can't ever use bluetooth - clearly I made the wrong purchase decision :(.
Have an upvote for “ bated breath” It’s daft but It winds me up when I see “ baited breath” . I think “ baited with what? “

Agreed 100%. We are a full-blown Sonos household - Ones in almost every room, Beam, Sub, Roam on order, and our whole family loves the ecosystem and how it works perfectly for our needs.

Yet I have kept our Soundlink Mini II as a stand-alone solution for outside and the garage because the Move is stupidly priced and I suspect that as awesome as the Roam will be, the bass response and overall sound quality will be inferior compared to the Soundlink Mini's. I'm no Bose fanboy, but they knocked it out of the park with that particular product. Hope it continues working for us for many years to come.

Sound quality would be an interesting comparison between these two. I think the Soundlink Mini would win. Of course, technology and user-friendliness is a completely different story and that's why I'm looking forward to the Roam. I just wish Sonos hadn't priced the Move so stratospherically because it's probably the outdoor speaker solution many Sonos families want, but refuse to buy based on pricewe a
We also own a Soundlink mini , brought it straight after hearing one at a dinner party ( oh those days seem so far away ) . Agreed on the bass response from this tiny speaker but the other frequencies are great too . i was waiting for the What Hi Fi reviews on the Roam as we have other Sonos products about the home and am more curious more than anything else at this stage .

I don't believe Macs have ever supported Airplay output of video's audio to external speakers, only to Apple TV, I could be wrong. Try Airfoil by Rogue Amoeba. Best $20 I've spent on an app in my life. I'm still rocking the same license for the past 9 years.
Works flawless from my MacBook Pro to Sonos speakers using AirPlay. Videos even get lip sync perfect, in Firefox, Safari, and even VLC. Live audio is not so great, i.e. a Zoom call, delay is too much.

Roon sounds like a cumbersome niche product honestly. Reading the website and forums didn’t sell me on it at all. “Real audiophiles” have way more time and money to replace their entire music library with HiRes audio files and receiving devices than I have I guess.
