The one thing the Pencil over the Chinese knockoffs for 20% the price, was pressure sensitivity. Not sure why anyone would pay the premium for this one.

They love to make the same mistake before Steve Jobs took over Apple in their early days I guess.

But there are also lots of people defending this kind of fragmentation saying the lineup is not confusing whatsoever. To each of their own I guess.
I was in the IT industry during the channel stuffing days. What exactly was the difference between a:

Macintosh Performa 630
Macintosh Performa 630 CD
Macintosh Performa 631 CD
Macintosh Performa 635 CD
Macintosh Quadra 635CD
Macintosh Performa 636
Macintosh Performa 636CD
Macintosh Quada 636
Macintosh Performa 637CD
Macintosh Performa 638 CD
Macintosh Performa 640 CD

(All of these were introduced in July 1994, and discontinued in July 1995)

Now, what's the difference between:
Apple Pencil 1
Apple Pencil 2
Apple Pencil USB C

Seems a lot easier to keep straight compared to the various 63x Performas and Quadas

You can get $20 pencils on Amazon with the same functionality (except auto-sleep upon magnetic attachment) and more color choices.
Yep - and they are pretty good. I have an Apple Pencil as well, but my work flow involves a lot of annotating and marking up PDFs. The cheaper devices work just fine.
