On 10 November 1775 the U.S. Marine Corps was established. We Marines take a lot of pride in our traditions and have lot's of respect for them and the Corps. Today is a very special day for all Marines and one we never forget.

Happy 240th to my fellow U.S. Marines out there!

The Commandant & Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps put together a very nice birthday message this year.

The Marines assigned to US embassies were allowed to have 'wet' parties back in the day, do not know how that applies now.

Yes, well, embassies, now, that may be an entirely different matter. Different rules of engagement may indeed apply.

However, most European militaries have a relatively enlightened approach to this matter - as do virtually all European embassies!
