Wanted to throw this out there for the new Apple Watch owners that got their new toys under their trees

Which version did you get, what do you think? Need any help?

I was fortunate enough to get one! All I know is that it's a sport model. Will be here next week. I was given a box with an Apple and My moms old watch as my gift today. Very funny moment. Looking forward to getting it next week.

My wife got me one for Christmas, a space gray sport. Liking it so far. Pretty much just playing around with it figuring out how it works. Got a gshock style case and a screen protector to help it survive my day job.

Yeah I got one. A black sport model.

Not to sure about it to be honest, surely better to pull a bigger screen out of your pocket than fiddle with this. I can see the advantage of mail and message previews but I cannot for the life of me get it to work properly, some messages come through and others don't.

Congrats all.

I was having the same issue when I first got mine, and then I realized the notifications won't go through if the phone is being used. So if you get a text or email while your using your phone, even if it is on the table but the screen is on because you just put it down, it will not send the notifications to your watch because it is assuming you got it on your phone. Saves redundancy.

Wife and I bought each other Sports. We Really like them so far. Going into it only looking for the watch to tell time and deliver notifications. Anything else would be a bonus.

My wife got one for me - silver sport model. Not sure yet how I feel about it. I have a recent Garmin running watch (not one of their Smart watches) that I wear daily, and this is unlikely to replace that for me for running as I don't like to run with my phone and the Garmin is a fair bit more powerful (and accurate in my experience). Still, for daily general wear, I can already see the appeal of the Apple Watch and for the most part the UI is typically great Apple. So far the biggest advantages I see are that I don't have to keep my phone on me at all times. I'd already migrated past that point in my daily life, but found that I was still being 'called' to it more often than I like. I think if I can nail down which notifications pass through to the watch it may be a keeper.

Thanks. I won't give up on it just yet it's probably user error.

Notifications will surely be the only thing I will use on the watch as so far everything else is pretty rubbish. The heart rate monitor is particularly bad. Every time I check it it says I am between 80 and 100 bpm sitting watching telly and I know that I am normally 50-60 at rest.

My hubby got me the Rose gold 38mm, love it so far. It does take some learning and tweaking, but nothing too difficult. I am finding I am looking at my phone considerably less than I used to which is great. I used the SleepTracker app last night and it works great and I love the Dark Sky app!

One thing that took some time for me was not automatically reaching for my phone to add a reminder or start a timer. Even sending a text. All is so easy to do with the watch and you don't even have to wait. Raise your wrist and say "hey siri, send a text to my wife and tell her I will be home by 5" and then lower your wrist and it will send. "Hey Siri, remind me to call Mike about the game". I now use more apps to create appts and to dos and never touch my phone. It's just a new habit t use Siri all the time.

I always wanted to grab my phone to add something or convince myself it wasn't worth adding if I needed to get up to get my phone. ;)

I've had the SS 38mm Milanese since the summer. Took advantage of the Best Buy sale and got hubby the SS 42mm Milanese plus a Midnight Blue sports band. So far he seems to be liking it!

My wife and I got each other sports. She got the 38mm rose gold and I got the 42mm silver and each got an extra band or two. So far we really like them and they are fitting in to our daily lives nicely.

My girlfriend got me the Sports watch ( Best Buy). I love the remote control features. The SimpleControl ( Roomie Remote) app is nice to have on the wrist, the Apple Music and AirPlay features, the ability to control the AppleTV, the Directv app, and the ability to control Overcast/Downcast are all awesome. I like the watch faces, having weather (Carrot), notifications, email, messages, picking up phone calls when the iPhone is docked, Siri, etc...

I already have a lot more uses for it than I would have imagined and I haven't even taken it out of the house yet. I doubt that I would have ever bought one after read the lackluster reviews, but I am really glad to have it now.

I got a SS with red sport band, also bought a knockoff link bracelet off Amazon made by Moko that looks pretty good, I like it so far but theres a lot to digest with the UI.

My wife and I bought our Watch Sport models "for Christmas" over the Thanksgiving holiday. I got the SG 42 mm and she got the Gold 38 mm. We did the $100 off deal at Best Buy because we really did not want the $100 gift cards at Target. We both received non-Apple watch bands under the tree to allow us to change out the look.

After wearing it for a month, I am finding more and more uses for it. I have even purchased a couple of Watch specifics apps, which I would not have bought for my phone alone. I can live with the v1 shortcomings, as they are outweighed by the benefits.

I bought my wife a 38mm silver sport model, got my dad a 42mm silver sport model and my parents got me a 42mm space grey sport model.

Liking it a lot. Took a day to get used to and figure everything out but once I did everything works flawlessly. Love sending taps, drawings and heartbeats to my family and receiving them back!

Great watch!

How do you send taps and drawings?

How do you send taps and drawings?

Sure. So press the long button under the crown. That will bring up your favorite contacts. Pick someone who has the watch, tap the circle and it will take you to the next screen. There should be 3 icons on the bottom. The phone icon, the hand icon where you can draw and tap, and a text message icon. Select the center one. Draw, tap or put 2 fingers on the watch to send your heartbeat.

If the center icon doesn't show, try sending them a text first with the text icon, after her the center icon should now be available. Let me know if that works out for you.

Good luck!

I got a space gray 42mm Apple Watch Sport. Didn't get it yet, waiting for it to come in. VERY much anticipating its arrival!

Where did you order it from that is taking so long? They were available from many retail sources in my area and there were really good discounts if you waited until after Thanksgiving.

Got a space gray 42mm sport. I would have never bought one myself. I haven't worn a watch since I was a little kid. It's neat. Activity tracking is cool.

Got 42 MM Space Black Stainless Steel.

It's sort of late for many MR members/die-hard Apple fans, as the v2 is rumored to debut this coming March. It'd be more common among the average customers (who tend not to visit MR).

And then there's the group waiting for Apple Watch 3... ;)
