Happy Veteran's day and thank you to all of those who have served and especially for those who have given their lives for their country.

(Don't forget, yesterday was also the Marine Corps Birthday)

If you know or see a veteran, please take the time to thank them.

My thanks to you and your comrades for your service and sacrifice…especially to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our Country.

And Happy Day After Birthday, Marine.:D

I hope more active duty military personnel get to spend much more time at home and A LOT less time deployed in a warzone. It's a case of National Policy drastically, adversely effecting a segment of our society. (Not looking to start a debate)

Here are a couple of pics from my time in the Marines.

This is my 5-star hotel on the beach of the Pacific Ocean.

Here are the Amphibious Assault Vehicles (AAV) we used for going from ship to shore. I participated in the landings on Korea (not the Korean war) that we do on an annual basis in joint training with South Korea.

Quite luxurious accommodations. I'm sure room service was provided!:p

Gosh, and I was sure that you were old enough to...well, never mind.;)

Here is a photo of me and friend (I'm on right) in pilot training circa 1978:

Heh, nope. No fancy Air Force A/C for us. But here I am hanging out by an A/V 8 Harrier jet circa 1998. That was aboard the USS Belleau Wood out in the Sea of Japan.

Awesome pictures, thanks for sharing. I know a lot of Vets don't like talking about their war time, while others tell stories all the time.

Here's another pic. The Marine Corps Commandant was coming to visit our base in California and we deployed the CAAT (Combined Anti Armor Team) to escort him around.

A CAAT platoon is composed of machine gunners and anti-tank missilemen. They team up to provide the combined arms power of the M2 Browning .50 caliber heavy machine gun, Mk 19 40MM automatic grenade launcher, M-240G medium machine gun, and the TOW missile system either from vehicles or from a ground position.

I was not a part of this Weapons Company team, but snapped this photo of them prior to us heading out.
