Hey guys

I just picked up a MacBook Pro retina 15" i7, 512gb SSD etc

I'm in two minds about getting a hard case for it, I'm trying to protect it however will the hard case in ones opinion affect the dissipation of heat?

I occasionally take it outside of home.

Is anyone using one, if so, recommendations?

I also want to know if by using the hard case how does affect the screen and the hinge?

I've seen some that have issues with it being loose after using the hard case for extended periods of time

Thanks

The only hard case they has good reviews is the Tech21. I did get that one. I was disappointed with how it looked on my MBP. I felt it took away from that Apple look I paid so much for. Also I felt that it did cover the exit vent a little bit.

I have used speck case on my 17" for as long as I have had it. I like it but is it necessary? Not really, the laptop is made of metal, pretty strudy out of the box. I like keeping it scratch free, I also have a lot of stickers on the case, just feels wierd to put them directly on the metal.

If you do want a speck case groupon has a stupid good deal going for a week, 17.99.. they are the same ones apple sells for 50.00, same one I'm using now. I am buying a 15" just like yours so I went ahead and orderd one from groupon. Only drawback is the deal is for color cases but then judging by your user name maybe a blue case would work lol

As for heat, I cant speak for the 15" but it wasnt a problem for the 17", infact it made it more confortable to use on my lap. The 15" version seems about the same.

I've been using the Tech21 snap on case now for just over 2 months with no problems at all. It was a little pricy but it really fits well and have had no problems with heat (just keep the vents from being blocked and clean them regularily). Easy to take off as to put on, doesn't affect the screen at all.

Thanks for your replies, I'm pretty keen on the tech21 how do you find your hinge is after 2 months with the cover on the top?
