Hard drive boot problem

My original 2.5 DP G5 died. I bought a 2.3 DP G5 and it doesn't recognize the hard drives from the original G5. What gives?🙁

This might sound like a crazy question but what is telling you that they're not recognized? IS it the "?" icon? Do you have an OS X installation disc with Disk Utility on it to mount the disk that way and set it as the startup disc?
