I have a Power Mac G5 Dual 2.0ghz computer. I bought it as is and it wasn't working. I replaced the motherboard. It came without a Hard Drive. Now with it booting, I put in one of my used SATA hard drives and neither them would show up when I tried to install OSX. One was formatted in a linux file system, the other NTFS. One is a Maxtor, the other a Hitachi.

My question to you is will these work with my G5? Or is there a compatibility issue? Is it because of their current file system or the brand of the hard drives or perhaps another issue. Thanks.

What do you mean by doesn't see? Have you launched the computer off of an OS X install CD/DVD?

You need to reformat the drives with the Disk Utility from the Utilities menu at the top of the screen when you boot into the installer on the OSX install DVD

Thanks for that CR, been a while since I was doing anything in a mac eniroment, figured it would just automatically recognize it and give me the option to install.
