After updating to Catalina, the custom icon I had for my iMac hard drive disappeared. Just the ugly disk. I tried changing it with copy and paste as well drag and drop on the disk. Neither worked.

Same thing on my Mac Pro. It is so irritating, and there seems to be no fix.

95% of my custom icons disappeared (they turned into 'generic' folder icons, or reverted to the default app icon). this happened with the first public beta (was ok just before that). ugh. so it goes...

Even LiteIcon can't get around whatever shenanigans Apple is up to this time.

Same here, though this is first time that it happened to local custom icons (i went thrue all the betas of catalina). Also noticed, that after each update all custom icons dissapear in iCloud directory.

Thought to myself, well maybe its time to do clean install and restore everything from time machine. Nope, all the time machine custom icons are also reset to default light blue.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
